The mortgage guy abruptly called me, told me that he needed different divorce papers from me, and that he needed them yesterday. I figured out what he needed, but I didn't have it. To get a copy, I'd have to go to the courthouse during business hours.

However, I had already planned to get together with Erik. I called him, and asked him if he had the form. He did, and he graciously agreed to run home and bring me a copy when he came down here for dinner. I owe him one more of many (although I did pay for dinner -;)).

He met Nima for the first time, and said "Hello there Nima-chan", which suits her perfectly. I might start calling her Nima-chan. Damn it--every time, he says or does something that charms and delights me.

When he dropped me off, I was expecting a hug, so I assumed a hug position. Instead, he sighed, and said "Oh well." At first, I didn't get it, but I realized that he wanted to give me a good-night kiss. At that point, things were really awkward, so I bailed. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. Why is that the one arena in life in which we're so consistently out of whack?

I can't imagine marriage without regret and divorce without regret. I don't think that we'll ever really know who we are to each other.

At work, we've been presenting short summaries of chapters of the book Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. I presented my section on Monday. In the process of preparing, I found myself dividing my tasks by urgency and importance, as the book recommends. (The book recommends that we spend most our time on Quadrant II tasks, which are those that are important, but not urgent, such as maintenance, building relationships, etc.) Analyzing my tasks re-emphasized how much time I waste on the Internet. I think that writing entries is of value. Reading journals is of value, but I do sometimes use it as a time-waster. I'm going to set limits on my time. I also found myself writing a mission statement. I still need to do some work on it, but a bunch of items just poured out of me.

The weather has been just hot, not blast furnace, so I decided to take the cats to be microchipped. I planned to take Harlee and Nima, but I found that Harlee's now wise to the trick of using tuna to get her in the cat carrier. She ate the tuna very, very nervously outside the carrier, but wouldn't set a foot inside. She jumped whenever I touched her. So I decided to take Random and Nima, and give Harlee a chance to calm down. Everything went fine, and Random and Nima are duly registered. Wish me luck when I take Harlee tomorrow. She hates being picked up, struggles, and hisses; she goes flying if you try to put a towel around her; she's intelligent, wily, and fast. It took 4 people to catch her when I adopted her from the shelter, so I was warned -;)

Later, I signed the loan papers again in front of a notary. She was funny--she got lost in the complex, and said that the architect "must have been drunk when he designed it"--and she didn't flinch at the mess.

I've also enrolled all three cats for pet insurance. I'm more likely to have whopping vet bills as Random gets older, so the timing is good. I also signed up for an online home inventory program; I plan on entering items as I clean.

Everything I was writing about had to do with Quadrant II tasks. Way to go.
