Shop until you drop
Aug. 26th, 2001 12:53 amWhat a productive shopping trip that was!
Had a moment of cool at Home Depot. I wound up wandering all over the store looking for the basin wrench. (Was it with the rest of the tools? No. Was it near the faucets and sinks? No. It was near the pipes. Silly me-;) ) Anyway, I noticed that they had garage door openers, and I went to see if they had a replacement remote for my garage door opener. They did (though I have to see if it really works). I was paying for my stuff when the guy behind me asked where I got the garage door remote. "Over there," I said coolly, pointing. Well, it probably doesn't seem like much, but I'm completely intimidated by Home Depot, and it was kind of fun to come off like an expert-;)
However, Home Depot didn't have faucets that I liked.
Anyway, I got everything that I intended to get (basin wrench, WD-40, laser paper, and tape recorder). And much, much more. I had enough time to pick up a replacement for my hamper, which has been shedding pieces all over my bedroom. I did find a faucet that I liked at WalMart, but they only had one of them, and I need two that match. I got ambitious and bought a replacement kit for the hardware in my toilet, which is corroded. (If I can replace the faucets and the toilet hardware, I'll have saved myself the few hundred dollars that a plumber would charge.) WalMart also had globe-shaped compact florescent bulbs, so I grabbed them for the vanity area in my bathroom. Unfortunately, they didn't have quite enough bulbs to replace all the bulbs in the vanity area, so I'll have to scrounge up a couple more. (I'll use the normal bulbs in my other bathroom, which I use less often.) I also got a battery recharger and one set of rechargeable AA batteries, though I'll need some more when they get more in.
And I got some more odds-and-ends that aren't worth mentioning.
Whew. I'm wiped out, but pleased.
