I made it to the Traffic Court clerk, but I didn't make it to the Family Court clerk. Apparently the Clerk's Office closes an hour earlier than the courthouse does. (Did they mention that fact on their web page? Nooooo.) The form has to be filed by COB on Wednesday, so I'll go there Tuesday morning. Whatever works.

I've gotten more philosophical about my time constraints. In a work setting, I'm able to say "all I can do is all I can do," but I find it tougher to say outside of work. Having to go into court at the end of the month (the worst possible timing) was the last straw. I thought that because Erik and I had worked everything out between us and documented our finances to the nth degree, we wouldn't have to go into court. Apparently we have to go in and walk through a checklist of the information that we gave them.

I fervently believe that the State has no business getting in the middle of personal, private relationships. (If I had to do it over again, I would not have gotten married.) In this case, Erik and I have worked out the details of the dissolution between us, and the State is just sticking its nose in our business. (Yes, I realize that the system was set up to deal with problem situations, not ours.) Just venting. I'll do whatever I need to do to wrap the divorce up.

I had a lovely nap when I came back. The title comes from a card that my aunt gave me called "Everything that I learned about life, I learned from my cat." Works for me.
