Zilker Park and BookPeople
Nov. 15th, 2002 12:53 amI went to Zilker Park today. It's a large park that's similar to Golden Gate Park in S.F. or Lincoln Park in Chicago. I was looking for some botanical gardens that are located in the park. I wandered around and saw lots of trees, green hills, and picnic benches. I also saw Barton Springs Pool, which is a natural pool filled by a spring. It's quite large (about the size of a full-sized man-made pool). It was closed for cleaning today, but it's open year-round. (The water temperature stays at 68 degrees.) The late afternoon sun was reflected in it, and the effect was quite lovely.
However, I couldn't find the botanical gardens. Oh well, I'll find them next time (and there will be a next time).
Later, I went to a bookstore called BookPeople. It's large (two stories tall), has a nice selection, and has a lot of funky chairs to sit in and read. I lost about two hours there reading.
And this is the end of my Austin trip; I fly back tomorrow afternoon. It's definitely been too short, but I learned enough to know that I definitely want to come back. I've really enjoyed myself and hate to leave.
