Part 2

I've been worried about Random over the past few days. He was hiding a lot, sleeping a lot, and taking almost no interest in his surroundings. He was acting almost as if he didn't know who I was. When I petted him, he didn't purr. He was letting Harlee boss him around. However, he was still eating normally and using the litter box.

Last night, when I came upstairs from messing with the garage, I saw a large, bloody boil on his ear. It looks like either he or Harlee scratched his ear, and it became infected. Poor guy.

So I made an appointment to take him to the vet in the late afternoon. (I have an appointment with the garage door people around noon.) I'm a little concerned about getting him into the cat carrier because I'm afraid that I'll bump his ear, but it looks like I might be able to bribe him into the carrier.

(As I said on my forum append at work, any more crises need to take a number -;))

Addendum: Random is currently lying on top of his cat carrier. At least he isn't freaked out at the sight of it.

Random Chance

Random has a hematoma in his ear. They're going to do surgery on it tomorrow to drain it and suture it shut. I decided to leave him there overnight rather than bring him back in the morning (and wrestle him into the cat carrier again!) Poor baby is not getting off very lightly. (Neither is my wallet -;)) I'm feeling really unsettled with him gone, and I don't know why. I've boarded him before.

The garage door is fixed. The guys started working on it and fixed it before they even let me know that they were there. I told them that was fast, and one of the guys said in mock-hurt tones, "Well, we know what we're doing." I liked them. (For the locals, they're Arrow Garage Doors.) The cost was reasonable too.
