Harlee seems to be slowly coming around. She still is sleeping under the bed, but I've had some good petting sessions with her, so she's decided that I'm okay. She'll stay out in the room when I'm around. (However, she woke me up in the middle of the night meowing--Harlee, go to sleep!) She's been trying to follow me out of the bedroom, and Random has been following me around in the living/dining/kitchen area, so I expect those two to clash sometime. Random has seen her and let out a huge hiss. I'm not so worried about them working it out because Harlee is only three pounds lighter than Random and is younger, brighter, and faster than Random. Random generally does not mess with her.
I'm a little more worried about the interaction between Random and Nima. I let her out, and at first they were sniffing at each other, but then Random let out a huge hiss and Nima ran back into the home office. (Random seems to be respecting the home office as Nima's territory. So far.) So I'm going to have a lot of supervised interaction between the two of them while they settle down.
Random's been testing some limits. He tried to follow me out of the apartment once, but we seem to have established that the outside is MY territory. He also has been jumping on the kitchen counters.
Cats -;)
I have some plans for my little garden in my patio area. I'm going for a pseudo Zen/Japanese garden effect. I'm going to cover the dirt with gravel or river rocks, put some larger rocks in, and put plants in glazed pots on top of the gravel. I bought a tiny Japanese maple--only a sapling--and hope that I found a spot for it that it will like. I'd like to put in a small (solar) container water garden, a solar fountain, and a sundial. (Now I just need to be reimbursed for the move so I can get that stuff.) I have some plants by the door, a birdfeeder, some wind chimes, and a bronze plaque with a sun on it. I'll take some pictures with my phone's camera later today.
And now I'm just dealing with details and glitches. I dropped my remote for the front gate of the complex, and it broke, so I have to park on the street until Monday. I had planned to go up to San Jose today to clean the condo, but don't like the idea of hauling my stuff through the entire apt. complex to empty the car. The guy came up to install cable, but I need to make another appointment to install high-speed Internet and wireless access. (I had hoped to set up my own wireless access, but have no room for a computer in the living room.) The washer and dryer guy hasn't delivered the washer and dryer yet, but promises that he will do so next week. I planned to pick up a prescription (in Fresno) this weekend, but the pharmacy is only open Monday through Friday. Etc.
I'm overwhelmed by the boxes, so I'm going to find out if I could temporarily rent a parking spot so that I can use the garage as a staging area for the boxes. I'd need to rent a hand truck from U-Haul or something like that.
