Problem solved?
Dec. 24th, 2006 12:09 amMy mom was saying lately that any problem can be worked out. You just need to find out how.
I think that she's right. I had some stamps in my wallet with the issue date in tiny 3-point font. No, I didn't grab my reading glasses. (I wish that I had.) Instead, I squinted and decided that the stamps were current. I used them to send a Christmas card and a COBRA payment.
Something made me look at the stamps again the following day, and I discovered that they were old stamps, and I had sent my letters postage due. I panicked because the COBRA payment needs to arrive by the 1st, or it's at risk of getting canceled, and I'd be up the creek if it was canceled.
What I decided to do was send a new check to them using FedEx, cancel the old check, and call them and explain the situation. Then I discovered that FedEx won't deliver to P.O. boxes. However, USPS Overnight mail will deliver to P.O. boxes. I can't get to the post office until Wednesday because I'll be wrangling cats on Tuesday, but that's okay. The check will still get there by Friday at the latest.
