We had a bit of excitement around here. The tornado sirens went off around 5:40 PM. I checked Weather.com, and it didn't list a warning for our county, just a watch. I turned on the TV, and scrolled through the channels until I found a local station. At first, it just listed a watch for our county, but then it added a warning for our county, and the sirens went off again. At that point, I grabbed the cat carriers; tried to grab Harlee (but she got away); and grabbed Zara, something to read, my purse, and soda; and went down in the basement. (I didn't grab my cell phone, which was dumb.) I left the gate to the basement open in case Harlee decided to go down there of her own volition. (She didn't.) However, I didn't have a radio with me, so I waited a good, long time (50 minutes), and went upstairs to check the TV station. The tornado warnings for our county and surrounding counties had expired, although there still is a tornado watch until 8PM. I bought Zara upstairs (she was a real trouper the whole time--not one peep of protest), and let her out of the carrier. No tornado touched down in any of the counties near us.
