U-Find-Us, U-Haul
Aug. 10th, 2013 03:59 pmI planned to run a bunch of errands this morning (bank, post office, pick up packages at the apartment office...). I also wanted to pick up some moving boxes for the task of sorting and repacking the books in the garage when my mom comes down here. My boss thoughtfully gave me a bunch of boxes on Friday, including some boxes that are perfect for books, but I'll need more of them. Most of the boxes that people have given me are larger (although I'll need them too when I pack up stuff in the apartment).
I went to a local shipping store, but they didn't have a really great size of boxes for books, and they wanted almost $5 a box.
That price seemed high to me, and I had also written down the address of a U-Haul place, provided by Google. So I drove over to the U-Haul place.
And couldn't find it. It did occur to me that it might be a part of a composite business, so I roamed around looking for U-Haul trucks, but didn't see any.
When I logged on when I got home, I found out that the place was called "Party Creations". Silly me for not realizing that it was a U-Haul place -;)
However, I looked on U-Haul's Web site for locations this time, and found another place close by. The U-Haul Web site says that they have small boxes "as low as $.68," which is a lot more reasonable. U-Haul is also great about taking back unused boxes. They're open until 7 tonight, but the only way that I could get out of bed this morning was to bribe myself with a nap later in the day. However, they are also open tomorrow, and that might be a better choice because I could stay home now and work on cover letters (after my nap!) tonight, and take a break tomorrow to go to U-Haul and the grocery store.
I had also planned to get more of the canned hypoallergenic food for Harlee, but now she's refusing to eat it at all. She still loves the dry food though. So I need to call my vet next week, and find out what to do because I'm supposed to give Harlee her med 1 to 2 hours before feeding her, and I've been free-feeding her the dry food. She'll probably tell me to give Harlee the dry food only once a day.
The probable plan with my mom is that she'll come down on Friday, stay into part of the following week, go to Chicago, and come back down to be here the following weekend. That would be great if she's willing to do that because that would mean that I won't have to take any time off of work.
