I've been getting hooked on Anthony Bourdain's show on CNN, Parts Unknown. The idea is that you can learn a lot about a culture by their food and drink and social occasions that involve them. He also believes that "you can ask someone anything" once you have shared a meal with them. I saw shows on Spain (Granada) and New Mexico last night, and Copenhagen tonight.

The Copenhagen show was especially interesting because my dad had a business trip to Copenhagen when I was in high school. My mom went with him, but my high school decided that I had already taken too much time off because of other trips (my dad worked for United Airlines), and therefore I couldn't go. I was doubly pissed because I had never been to Europe at that point. Travel is educational, isn't it? Couldn't I have written an essay about the trip? So, bah. It was the trip that "got away".

Next week is Sicily, which should be interesting because I love Italian food. We have two others "on demand," one on Israel, which should be interesting, and one that I can't remember.

Otherwise, I'm trying to catch up on late homework, but I won't finish everything tonight. Lack of Internet access is turning out to be a pain; I'm using my cell phone as a hotspot, but I think that there's a limit to the amount of throughput that it can provide. Harlee has permanently taken over my mom's room; thank goodness that my mom is good-natured about it. Zara is confined to my room by a gate (she gets into stuff and destroys it), but she's gotten out once already. I chased her all over the house and ultimately back into my room. Out of guilt, I bought her a nice, soft velour throw for my bed for her to lie on and a new feather toy.

It is freaking cold out. And damp. Unfortunately, most of the clothes that I brought are for warmer weather. (When I realized that the boxes of clothes that I had wouldn't fit in my mom's car, I packed a suitcase in a hurry.) I might drive down to Springfield next week to get a refill on my meds, so I could pick up more clothes then. The only thing is that I have nowhere to put them; the dressers and closet in my room are full, and I've been living out of a suitcase. Maybe I could put some stuff in the small attic/crawlspace off of my mom's bedroom? I think that she's hoping that I get a new job quickly (well, so do I). Anyway, sitting outside by the waterfall reading stuff for class isn't working. I guess that I'll go inside....
