Finally Getting on a Roll
Nov. 30th, 2013 11:31 pmThanksgiving was nice. My mom and I went out to our traditional restaurant (Maggiano's Little Italy), and had a great meal. (We're still working on the leftovers.) During the evening, we watched part of CNN's marathon showing of Parts Unknown (Anthony Bourdain's show), but we packed it in at midnight.
Friday, I did a few odds and ends, but was mostly lazy. The National Geographic channel had a marathon series of shows about the 80s, so I watched a lot of it, but not all of it. (I'd really like to get DVDs of the series because it's pretty good.) My one Black Friday purchase was buying a freezer from Home Depot online. I also made an appointment to get Comcast set up, but later than I would have liked (on the weekend after the move).
Today, I brought Harlee in for a checkup, and made an appointment to bring Harlee and Zara to the vet on Friday for sedatives before the long drive to Bloomington. I also went looking for gloves and a pair of my cheap, ugly, but comfortable shoes, with some trepidation due to all the news stories about Black Friday madness. The stores weren't too crowded though. (In fact, Kohl's was almost deserted.) I found gloves, but not the shoes.
I have two major assignments due on next Friday, and I'll lose Monday, Thursday, and Friday to the drive back and forth to Bloomington. I also will lose Wednesday day to the move of my stuff from storage in Springfield to Bloomington. So I'm spending today and tomorrow jamming away on the assignments. One could argue that I should have started earlier, but I really needed a couple of days of "down time".
