The movers moved my stuff from Springfield to Bloomington yesterday. This is my second move with them, and I'm impressed again (except for the fact that they were late, but okay). It was an easy move on the Springfield end because my stuff was in storage. However, on the Bloomington end, they had to bring some stuff upstairs, and bring heavy boxes of books to the basement. They did so cheerfully and relatively quickly. I also needed to look at each box to see where it went (I was kicking myself for not putting stickers on them), and they were good-natured about that too. The cost of the move did run slightly over estimate, so I had to run out and get them another cashier's check. While I was gone, they had to decide where to put stuff in my bedroom, and it's not the layout I had in mind, but it's okay. I do want to move the filing cabinets in the office, so I need to get some furniture sliders.

When I looked at all the stuff that they had to move, I almost called to cancel the delivery of my new freezer the weekend after next, but there's still room in the basement for it. Actually, there's a lot of room in the basement. The living room, on the other hand, is jammed full of furniture and boxes. The original plan was for my mom to drive down with me tomorrow, and she usually sleeps in the futon in the living room, but there's no way that she could do so right now, so my plan was to have her sleep on my bed while I slept on the air mattress in the office. (There is tons of room in the office. I even could put a loveseat in here when and if I get the money for one. Or a nice chair with an ottoman.) My bedroom is a little claustophobic because they put all the wardrobe boxes in there, even though I asked them to divide them between the office and the bedroom. When I get furniture sliders, I might slide some down the hall to the office to free up some space in the bedroom. Giving Zara access to the window will help keep the peace.

Unfortunately, the move ran smack into the due dates for my final projects for my classes on Friday. I had hoped to work on them on my netbook while the movers were loading my stuff in Springfield, but it was drizzling. I did draft a policy document on paper, at least. When the movers left, I ran around setting up the bed (which required opening a few boxes to find the bedding), set up the desk, computer, and printer in the office, and hung the shower curtain. Then I launched into my homework. However, I realized by the late evening that there was no way that I could finish it that night.

The plan of record had been that I would drive back to Michigan today, and drive the cats down here tomorrow, and my mom would also drive down tomorrow and take the plants, litter boxes, gates, etc. The new plan is that I'll drive to Michigan on Friday and bring the cats down on Saturday. However, my mom has plans on Saturday, so she can't come with me. So I'll leave the plants up there until my mom comes here for Christmas. I'll also buy new litter boxes down here and dump the ones in Michigan. (They were about due to be replaced anyway.) One thing that I need to do before I leave here is to make sure that absolutely everything is out of the trunk except for the small bag that I'll take with me for the overnight stay and windshield wiper fluid, so that I'll have room for the gates, cat paraphernalia, and (I hope) my professional books.

I slept a lot longer today than I had intended, and took a nap after I took my morning meds that was also longer than I intended, but I feel much, much better than I did yesterday. I was feeling semi-hysterical by the time that I went to sleep. I was able to reschedule the vet appointment to give the cats their sedative for the drive and left a message saying that I couldn't sweep out the storage place in Springfield until Sunday, but wasn't able to reach Comcast to reschedule the appointment that I had made for Saturday. I'll see if I can reschedule it online.

Anyway, writing this isn't helping me get my homework done, but it is therapeutic in a way.
