I'm having a rare bout of insomnia, so I might as well update. There are two major issues going on right now. One is my knee. I saw the Orthopedic doctor, and he's fairly certain that I tore a ligament in my knee, although I'm getting an MRI on Friday to conform the diagnosis. The kicker is that in order for the knee to heal, I'll need to not bend it for around five weeks. This precludes driving, and Lincoln doesn't have any public transportation, not even for disabled people. I'm wondering if I could come in only one or two days a week and work from home the rest of the time. I'm going to meet with the doctor next Monday to discuss the results of the MRI and where to go from here.
The other issue is that the other librarian has been given a "shape up or ship out" 30-day notice. I think that our boss is being a little harsh, but her concerns are valid. So potentially, I could be running the library on my own during a time when I'm not even sure that I'll be able to make it in to work. (Yes, I'm also concerned about the other librarian and am well aware that it's not about me, but it does impact me.)
So basically, that's why I can't sleep. I took an herbal sleep aid, and ate some bread, so I'm hoping to fall asleep soon. I just yawned, which is a good sign.
