I went roaming around San Francisco today. First, I stopped at the Post Office to mail my conference proceedings to Lincoln. Then I took the bus to Grace Cathedral. I still love the vibe of the place. I sat in the AIDS chapel for a while, and then walked the outdoor labyrinth.
Then I was heading towards Russian Hill via Chinatown, when I decided to stop in North Beach instead because it was getting late. I had an expensive but very delicious meal at a seafood place. Then I walked up Columbus, past all the restaurants with tables on the sidewalk, to City Lights bookstore. I managed to restrain myself (thinking of my heavy suitcase!), and didn't go in. I walked down this cool alley next to the bookstore in which authors' quotes "magically" appear as you walk.
Then I took the bus back to my hotel. That wasn't nearly enough time roaming San Francisco. I need to come here sometime on a vacation.
I have pictures, but I'll post them from my dad's place. I'm leaving tomorrow to take the train to Reno. I'm packed, except for the stuff that I need to pack in the morning. And now, I'm going to crash.
