As the World Churns....
Sep. 26th, 2015 02:50 pmA week ago from yesterday, we had the on-site interview with a Library Director candidate. I think that she'd do a good job, but I wasn't certain how happy she'd be here, and I'm also not certain how well we'd get along. We decided to have a phone interview with another candidate this week, and then decide whether to make her an offer.
On Saturday, I sold Younique at "Woofstock," a local event benefiting the Humane Society. Or rather, I didn't sell Younique; the crowd was all wrong for Younique. Multiple people told me that they didn't wear makeup. Someone who sold pet items would have done well there though. The place was crawling with dogs. It triggered my desire for a dog again, and I've been looking at dogs online. I really should wait until next March or April to get a dog though, and work on the boxes in the living room this winter. So, of course, I just fell in love with a Pug mix who likes cats. Must. Restrain. Myself.
On Sunday, I started to have a sinus cold. On Monday, I sucked it up and worked, but felt awful. I was wondering if I'd need to call in sick on Tuesday. On Tuesday, I woke up to several e-mails and phone calls; apparently I was supposed to open the library because a staff member had a doctor's appointment, and I flat out forgot. My boss came by my place to see if I was okay, which was a little embarrassing. Everyone was nice about it though. I started feeling gradually better during the week, although I still feel tired.
On Friday, we had the phone interview with another candidate. However, he wasn't there, and we dispersed. He called back very apologetically, and we decided to hold the phone interview with a subset of the Search Committee. I really, really liked him. The others weren't quite as enthusiastic, but they agreed to bring him in for an on-site interview. I'm glad, at least, we will have a choice of candidates.
This weekend, I have a bunch of stuff to do, but also am trying to rest and get rid of the remnants of my cold.
