Impatient Like a Cat
Aug. 4th, 2016 02:21 amI did get in touch with the senior home aides for my mom today. They can come as little as once a week with a minimum of three hours per visit. I told them that I needed to talk to my mom about it. So, cool.
Then I spent quite a while on the phone with my vet trying to get Zara's prescription filled. She was insisting that she never wrote the prescription, until I read her her name back from the bottle, and she said that WalMart had never filled the prescription, which also was written on the bottle. I hope that we've got it straightened out.
The doctor's office called, saying that I had to make an appointment with the doctor before they'd give me refills on one of my medications of which I had ran out. I couldn't get an appointment with the doctor, but made one with a nurse practitioner.
After dinner, I went to pick up a prescription that Walgreens had notified me was filled. Usually, I use the mail-order pharmacy, but I had run out of the medication and needed it now. (In fact, I haven't taken it for two days, which is not helping my joie de vivre.) The insurance company was refusing to pay for the med. I was cooling my heels for a half-hour while the pharmacy tech talked to them, but they said that it hadn't been filled since April, so it wasn't an active prescription. WTF? The pharmacy tech said that I had to call them. So I took the number and marched out of the store, ready to give someone what for. The number that they gave me was for the mail-order pharmacy, which overrode the hold on the prescription without giving me a hassle. I went back to the pharmacy, and then the prescription went through. (This whole time, I should have been at work, so yes, I was really pissed.)
I talked to my mom tonight, and she sounds a lot better. In fact, she had a long political discussion with me. She hadn't heard that Donald Trump asked why we can't use nuclear weapons. (Not what I want to hear when I'm off my antidepressant and have been having headache after headache because of the extreme humidity.) So I'm a lot less worried about my mom. (Her platelet count is still low, but is going up.) I told her about the home aides anyway, but she said that she didn't know how they'd get there given that her street is being repaved. It's always something....
I went to WalMart tonight to get some hot dogs that I forgot to get the other day. (I thought that I had bought then and lost them, and was convinced that I was losing my mind.) I scored big by getting a leather backpack, two pairs of shoes, and some socks that were on sale. And I did remember the hot dogs. So things are looking up.
The cats gave me what for though for getting home so late. I'm trying to make amends. Oh, I have been giving Harlee some limited ingredient wet food in addition to her limited-ingredient dry cat food, and she seems much livelier. I ordered a bunch more from Amazon along with a big bag of her dry food. I spent more on her than on food for me, but she's worth it.
