Mimi has discovered the top of the freezer and the window above it. She was hanging out in the window for a while. I hope that she'll fulfill her interest in the outside world that way. Zara's in the other kitchen window. I thought that they'd be more interested in the living room window, but I guess not.

I need to make an emergency run for grits later today. The canister I had got dish soap all over it. I rinsed it off, and apparently some of the grits have molded. Yuck. Making some of the hot dogs that I have left instead for breakfast.

Now Harlee's here. Family cluster factor in action.

I have to get used to this vegetarian thing. I was looking at what's on sale at Kroger yesterday. Asparagus is on sale. I might make some asparagus soup later this week if I'm feeling enterprising. But frozen fish is on sale too, and I went "Ooh". I like fish. I had to remind myself that I'm not eating it.

Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US!

I'm thankful for the long nap that I took. Delicious.

I made a potato in the microwave for the first time. It came out nice and tender, and I topped it with sour cream and fresh chives. It was good.

Mimi has a new spot. I have sheets on top of the dryer, and now I have sheets with cat hair on top of the dryer. She'll get a shock, though, when I use it.

I've been wondering why it's so quiet. No freight trains. Only Amtrak. No semis shaking the house. I like it.

I'm feeling a little stir-crazy, so I'm going to get myself together to run to WalMart for my grits and a few other things. I think that I suck though because I respect the retailers who have closed for the holiday. Sometimes I wonder about my value system.

Does anyone else get annoyed when you look at something in an online store, but don't buy it, and you see ads for it all over the Web? I was looking at a backpack weekender suitcase, which would be great for Chicago in the winter because I wouldn't have to drag it through the snow. Easy to wrangle on Amtrak too. But I wasn't planning to shell out money for a new suitcase though. It's almost half-off on Bags.com.

I read for a while, and then I did get myself together to go out, but decided to stick to my guns and stay home. I need to mail my aunt and uncle's presents tomorrow anyway, so I'll be out. I'm currently wrapping them.

Mimi woke up from her long nap on the dryer, and started chasing Zara, so I just fed them. Sheesh, Mimi.

I'm trying to decide if I have enough counter space to make my quiche. I have other food if not. I do, but I'd rather chop onions in the food processor, so I'll wait until tomorrow.

I'm trying to decide whether to change my Amtrak reservation to an earlier train. The one for which I bought the ticket is a long-haul train, on which they pack us in like sardines. (It's the one that I took up to Chicago a couple of weeks ago.) I barely was able to fit my carryon bag in the overhead compartment. I'll have the Perfect Purple Pack this time, but it will be around the same size. Maybe a little bigger.

I keep finding one of the cabinets open (a narrow one for cookie sheets and such) and figured one of the cats was opening it, but didn't know who or why. Zara apparently is hiding on the top shelf.

I keep finding recipes to try. I ate Evol's butternut squash lasagna tonight. It was good, but it's kind of pricey, so I went looking for a recipe. Found a butternut squash and spinach lasagna that looks good. I doubt that I'll have time to make it this weekend though. It's the time of year for it.
