I was discussing cars with my dad, and I'm leaning towards getting a Suburu Forester when Mom's house sells, although I'll also test-drive a Honda CR-V. He was encouraging me to get a Forester. I looked at Consumer Reports' ratings of both cars too.

I’ve been surprisingly faithful to my Estée Lauder skin regimen. I’m running out of stuff now, and I’m dubious about the serums doing anything. One is supposed to decrease the appearance of wrinkles, but I doubt anything does that. I’m lucky that I don’t have a lot of wrinkles yet. The moisturizers yes, they leave my skin dewy-looking.

Talked to my boss about our business trip to Minneapolis on the week of the 12th. We agreed that I don't need to bring my work laptop; I can access my email from my personal laptop. It occurred to me that I won't have homework, so I can read on the train! I bought the "You Are a Badass" books, so I might bring them with me.

Oh great! Zara's blood work looked good; there was no progression on her kidney disease. She's a tough cookie! Now I need to schedule a dental cleaning for her, but I'll call tomorrow morning because they're hard to get ahold of in the afternoon.

I keep meaning to call about Mom's car, but I'm really swamped at work. Maybe tomorrow.

I have a crashing headache, so I'm wondering if I should skip mowing and lie down, but I really should mow. I don't know what to do. I think that it's because of the heat up here. I might need to look for an air conditioner sooner rather than later. Though I’m wondering how I’d get it upstairs.

I found a place with lots of wallflowers, but I think that I should wait to order them until after my business trip on the 12th. Which reminds me, I need to get in touch with the pet sitter.

Submitted a Walmart order.

Took a nap and slept until 11 PM. I need to get up early to get the recycling out. I got a bag of recycling ready to go out. Did dishes and scrubbed the sink. Fed the girls and Mimi inhaled her food. Mimi decided that because I sat down at the computer, I have to pet her. I told her that she was spoiled rotten, and she's like, "Rotten? Getting spoiled is wonderful!"

Bought some TSA-approved toiletries bottles; I think that mine are in Michigan. I don’t need TSA bottles for my train trip, but I’ll have them for Italy.

Got my recycling out and groceries in. It’s already getting hot.

I've decided that I want to paint the hall between my bedroom and the "music room" a dark gray. Don't know when yet.

Damn. There is a poetry-writing workshop on Sunday at the uni that I'd really like to go to. But I'm swamped out of my mind this weekend. I have mowing and gardening, working on my final exam (takehome), and working on my final project.

Okay, it's seriously hot up here. I might need to add "buying an air conditioner" to my weekend list. I don't want to go tonight because I think that there will be more people to consult with on Saturday at Lowe's. I also need to go to the post office this weekend because they want me to submit yet another Change of Address form. (Sigh.) Mimi is lying on the treadmill, which might be cooler than the carpet. I told her to go downstairs, which is 10 degrees cooler than up here. But no, this is her place.

It's too hot to mow tonight, and they're also predicting rain. I think that my plan should be to get up early on Saturday and mow in the morning while it's still cool, and then go run errands in the afternoon in the air conditioning when it's hot. Also, I could bring my laptop downstairs to work on my homework. The house is strange. The downstairs stays cool even though the high was predicted at 87 degrees today. The thermostat reads 73.

Oh right, I'm taking Mimi to the vet tomorrow. I better not forget. Hey, I can set up Zara's dental appointment while I'm there. One less phone call.

Tried to nap but couldn’t sleep. I enjoyed snuggling with Zara.

Went outside and planted the other spirea. Did some weeding and planted an iris. I think that I planted some of them too far back and will have to move them.

I messed with my thermostat and got the a/c on. It should help.

I’m now thinking that I should go to bed early and get up early to work while it’s cool.
