Finding a new place

I forgot to mention that Erik gave me a good idea of the strategy that I should take in finding a place and moving. One challenge is that I'd want to find a place in very specific areas (Berkeley or Willow Glen?) within walking distance of a downtown area. It could take me quite a while to find the right place, and given the competition in the housing market, it could take me even longer to buy one. The other challenge is the cats. I wouldn't want them at home while I was selling it--they'd hate having all the people come in, and I would worry--but I wouldn't want to board them for an extended length of time. I also wouldn't want to be in the situation where I'd have to rent for a while because a lot of places won't rent to someone with three cats.

So Erik suggested that I buy a new place with a bridge loan, move, and then sell the old place. That could work.

My task over the fall, winter, and early spring is to get my place in shape to sell.
