Whirlwind trip

My mom and I have been in Chicago since Friday. We made it okay after a hair-raising trip through fog. I've been visiting with people ever since.
On Saturday, I had lunch with Maria, who was one of my roommates in college. She got back in touch with me through Facebook. We exchanged e-mails catching up on what's been happening, and agreed to meet for lunch when I was in Chicago. She hasn't changed at all in looks or attitude. She still has strong opinions. I enjoyed the lunch, but was taken aback when Maria asked when I was going to be in town again, "at Easter?" That was a little too pushy for my taste.
Saturday night, I had dinner with my dad. You never can tell how well my dad and I are going to get along, but this was a good visit. He looked at my long hair and asked me if I was becoming a hippie -;)
Sunday afternoon and evening, Mom and I visited with my aunt and uncle. You never can tell how well my aunt and I, or my mom and my aunt will get along (ah, family!), but this was a good visit. My aunt seemed fairly subdued and seemed to take an interest in what people other than her were doing (which is surprising).
On Monday, I met my friend Lance for coffee. It always amazes me how we can pick up where we left off even though we haven't talked or e-mailed for a year. It was a good conversation.
Unfortunately, my mom came down with stomach flu or food poisoning. She's been lying down much of the day. I had dinner by myself and read the paper. Then we watched CNN, and she went to sleep.
I've been getting a lot done in the evening practicing my typing and studying math (for the GRE's). It's been a good trip all the way around. We're leaving tomorrow. When I get back, I have lots of stuff to do, including finding out when I can take the GRE's and volunteering at the local library.
