The problem with working every day this week is, when I left work tonight, I thought "Weekend! Time to relax!" Not so fast, Adrienne. In the coming week, I need to do taxes by Monday, ILS configuration exercises on the weekend and during the week, work at the internship Tuesday and Wednesday (only 9 hours though), write a major paper by Wednesday, attend a chat session on Wednesday, work 14.5 hours across Thursday and Friday, finish a final exam by Friday, and give part of a presentation on Sunday. And my new boss wants me to complete a couple of online orientations "as soon as possible". No rest for the wicked...but I got paid today!

I have a problem with Zara. Harlee decided that she really wanted to go into Zara's part of the house, so I let her in. Zara apparently does think that it's her part of the house because she chased Harlee out of it. I scolded Zara, but that probably didn't have an effect. Maybe if I'm ready for Zara to chase Harlee, I can squirt her with water when she does. Any ideas?

Bad news: The Library of Congress is laying off workers, and I had hoped to work there someday. And the Detroit Public Library probably will close most of its branches. I'm glad that I don't want to work in a public library. That's a major bummer for patrons and the staff being laid off who now will compete for the few openings at other public libraries. The woman with whom I work at my new job wants to work at a public library, but she's going to have a really, really tough time finding a position.

My opinion regarding the cats? Well, you have 2 full grown females, right? I have some experience with that type of scenario ;)

Let them figure it out on their own. They will any way no matter what you try.

Positive reinforcement with cats (and all animals, including humans, really) works best. I used to do it myself, but water-squirting actually isn't effective.

When you let Harlee into Zara's space, place Zara into Harlee's so they can get accustomed to the smells of each other. Switch out their beds and even some toys, too. That's the advice that the shelter behaviorist gives to adopters. "Introducing" pets sometimes takes awhile but often pays off.
