Hijacked phone

days_unfoldingIt looks like the person who sent spam e-mails hijacked my phone. They sent e-mails to the contact list on my phone, not the list of my e-mail contacts. They were able to access my e-mail from my phone without a password, which I gather was not a good idea. Is there a way to keep my phone from getting hijacked? I'm on Android.
