days_unfoldingI just bought a combo clock radio/weather radio that will indicate when there is a tornado warning. I hope that I wouldn't sleep through it, though knowing how deeply I sleep, I might....
There's been multiple "severe" thunderstorms and tornado warnings around here (although today it's sunny and hot, 96 degrees F). There was some tornado damage a few weeks ago about 40 miles SW of here, and some storm damage in a town between here and work. There also has been a lot of tornado damage in Saint Louis, which is around a two-hour drive SW of here. I've been keeping the cat carriers out all of the time in case I need to stuff the cats in them and head downstairs. (Maybe living on the third floor wasn't such a good idea in tornado country.) It almost makes me miss earthquakes...not.
There's been so much rain that it's been affecting the farmers. Apparently they've been having problems planting, and when they plant, some of the seeds have gotten washed away. (And last year, there was a drought.) We had two storms come through here yesterday, but they were mild.
My plans for today involve lots of cleaning because I need to have a pet sitter come by sometime this week. I'll be going out of town for a conference at the end of June. I also need to get stuff out of the car because I grabbed only the perishable items last night when it was raining.
