"The Laugh's On Us"

I attended a comedy session tonight. At first, I was tired, and regretted having to go (but I had already paid for it), and I'm really glad that I did.
The session consisted of authors of humorous books. Ross Mathews, Nicole Knepper, Paul Rudnick, Sara Levine, and Selena Coppock all did short sets. Paula Poundstone was the headliner, and she was hysterical. I'm not going to even try to describe her set; you really had to be there. I remember being a fan of hers back in the 80s. (?)
There was a book signing afterward, but I decided not to go and to just go back to the hotel because I was tired. (I also was a little buzzed from the half-glass of Chardonnay that I drank. Given that I drink only a couple of times a year, I was really kicking my heels up -;)) I was dismayed to learn that the shuttles to the hotels had stopped running, but someone had arranged for a steady stream of cabs to come to the conference center. No one else was going to the Red Roof Inn (I guess that most people in cheap hotels don't spend extra money to go to comedy sessions), so I took a cab by myself. I overtipped the guy because I didn't want to spend my stack of precious singles.
