And...No Internet Access

My mom's techie friend, who insisted that I would have Internet access because "the router is working," apparently
unplugged the router from the cable modem and plugged her computer into the modem instead. So, no Internet access for me. I could plug the router back into the modem and set up wireless access on my mom's computer, but she's gone right now, and I want to get her permission first. My mom's friend originally had a setup in which her computer was plugged into the modem, and there was some sort of daisy-chain to the router, but I don't know how to do that. I could use my cell phone as a hotspot in the interim, but it's slow. Bah.
