Look for Me under the Bed, Part 2

The latest plot complication is that the insurance company wants to write off the Civic as a total loss. I am so not feeling emotionally equipped to deal with this. New town, new place of residence, new job...and now a new car. The timing is pretty lousy given that I've been out of work for a couple of months and just paid for a move. At least my mom will be here next week, which is especially good because I'll need someone to drive me back from Indiana after I get stuff out of the car and return the rental.
I'm feeling bad that the Civic "died" possibly due to my stupidity, and I have to remind myself that it's a machine, not a pet. I still feel like shit. I was not ready to give up that car yet. It was 10 years old, but still, it was a Honda Civic, and they're supposed to run for a long time.
I guess that I'm going to spend Winter Break car shopping....I want a Honda Fit. I've been researching both new and used options. The most used cars are, of course, in the Chicago area, but there are some in Champaign.
