Saving Money

I had a $5.00 off coupon from an online printer ink store that I've used in the past. I logged on and found a "buy two-get one free sale" of a set of printer's ink, so I spent a fair amount of money, but I'll have enough printer's ink for a year. But I forgot the $5 off coupon! Well, I'm new at this....
I also shopped around online for Harlee's prescription food. She just had a "senior wellness" vet visit when I was in Michigan, and while I'd take her to the vet if she needed it, I don't want to take her to a new vet right now just to get the food. (I thought about driving to Springfield to get the food from the Springfield vet, but I'd rather not take the time.) I found some food at 20 percent off with free shipping. Score! (Well, it's still expensive, but I got it for a good price.) Harlee will be due for another vet exam in the Spring, and that's when I'll start taking her to a new vet.
I'd like to start couponing. I've been reading up on it. Tonight I looked to see what was on sale at Meijer, and several items that I use regularly are on sale, but the sale ends tonight. And it's snowing. So I'm planning to go after the snow stops around 9 PM. The streets won't be clear, but I don't have to go far. I don't have coupons yet, but "clipped" some of Meijer's electronic coupons. I had planned to go tomorrow and get some copies of the Sunday Chicago Tribune (I found a blog that told me how to get a cheap subscription for multiple copies, but I need to call them), but I suppose that I could go out tomorrow too. I need to make sure that I'll allow enough time to finish my homework, however. I can clip coupons while I watch the ice dancing on Monday (or during Downton Abbey tomorrow).
I started looking into alternatives to cable, but that's going to require more time and research.
Any other ideas on how to save money?
