I need to get a stand for my flat screen TV. I have two choices. I could mount it on the wall. The advantage is that I could have room to put my stereo speakers on the media console; right now, I've put them on the floor, and I don't like it. A wall-mounted TV would look cooler too. The downside is that I'll have to make holes in the wall to mount the TV, and I'm renting. The other possibility is a stand that would rest on top of the media console, like this. The advantage is that I wouldn't have to make holes in the wall. The disadvantages are that it would take up space on the media console, and it would be easier to knock over. Your thoughts? Thanks.

Depends on what the mounting requirements for wall mounting are. As a landlord, I've never minded making holes in the wall that are easily repaired with spackle, but I don't know if that's a common attitude or not. If the TV isn't too heavy, it could be hung with drywall anchors, otherwise you'd have to find studs to screw into. The stand would be the safest option.
