Let There Be Light

It's amazing how much easier it is to get up when the sun is shining. And I feel like I actually have some energy to accomplish things. I want to plant the blueberries (finally!) so that they can stay out and enjoy the sun. I'm amazed that they're hanging in there.

I scored a camping sleeping pad at $40 off retail while I was eating lunch. Woo-hoo! This is fun. I don't want to get a sleeping bag until I know when I'm going to be camping because the weight of the sleeping bag varies depending on the temperature that it can handle. I'm hoping that, at the very least, I'll take a short camping trip in Champaign-Urbana this summer (or somewhere else in Illinois that sounds interesting?)

Need to throw myself together and run errands....

What particular mat did you get?

I once bought a 4 season sleeping bag because it was on sale, and convinced myself it was better to be too warm than too cold. I tried using it once late in the summer when the overnight temp was verging on freezing, but even so it was unbearably warm. I ended up using it as a dog bed.

A Big Agnes Q-Core Insulated sleeping mat. It's inflatable, but still not very heavy.

I found a summer sleeping bag that has one thicker side and one thinner side, so you can lie on the thicker side and use the thinner side as a blanket to keep cool. That would be good for summer camping here because it gets beastly humid. (I miss the dry heat of the Bay Area!)
