I keep kicking myself for not letting in the super cute stray kitty in a couple of weeks ago. Harlee seems to like her; for a while, she kept on running over to the door to the deck when she thought she heard the kitty, but she's stopped. I'd like to get her a friend; ideally, one that's mellow enough for Harlee, but young and playful enough for Zara. And not territorial (unlike Zara, who is). I'd be willing to look over a long distance to find the right cat.

However, I've been leaving cat food and water out on the deck, and someone's been eating the food. I guess my next step is to set up my web cam with my Netbook, leave the light on out on the deck, and see who is eating the food. It'll give me an idea on what to do next.

I hope that Cute Kitty is okay.

I would cut to the chase and rent a cat trap. If cute kitty is caught, the trap is your carrier to get him/her to a vet-- check for microchip, be sure she/he is neutered or get it done, get vaccines, then-- ta da! Acclimating slowly to new family, including cats. (At the very least, the 2 weeks it takes to be sure the cat has no transmittable diseases after blood tests, etc.) Voila! New kitty friend!! ;)

Whoops, I meant to post this as a reply: I'm not positive that cute kitty is the one eating the food. I've seen another cat around. I suppose if I caught the "wrong" kitty, I could let him out, although I don't like the idea of any cat being a stray. Another complication is that I think that she's a girl and might be pregnant.
