Wow, this week has gone incredibly fast. I've been swamped at work. I also have been running to various stores doing my couponing. I got the results of my blood test. And I finally got my hands looked at.

Harlee has not been handling my return to work this week very well. (Zara isn't thrilled about it either, but she's more self-sufficient.) I had the following conversation with Harlee Friday morning:

Harlee: Meow meow meow MEOW MEOW!! (Translation: PET ME NOW!!)

Adrienne: Harlee, I'm eating my breakfast.

Harlee: MEOW MEOW!!!!! Then she shook her paw at me in disgust. (I wonder where that gesture comes from. Maybe burying shit in the litter box?)

Adrienne: Listen missy, don't shake your paw at me. I need to go to work so that I can buy you expensive cat food!

Harlee stalked off in disgust.

Later, I saw her happily curled up on her cushion by the window.

Adrienne: Yeah, Harlee, you're having a REALLY TOUGH LIFE!

I swear she's getting more crotchety as she gets older....

I haven't gotten caught up at work from being on vacation, and more stuff keeps piling on my desk. I thought about coming into work this weekend, but decided it made more sense in terms of money and time to stay later during the week.

The doctor called me with the results of my blood test that I had last week, and my cholesterol is high. They asked me if I would take medication for it, and I said "no" because I've heard that statins can have an impact on your memory, so I'm trying to bring it down in other ways. I'm taking Red Yeast Rice, CoqQ10, and fish oil. I'm trying to replace my ice cream with frozen fruit bars. I want to start bringing a salad for lunch. And I need to get more exercise. I had planned to go for a walk today, but right now, my stomach is upset and I'm feeling shaky, so not right now. Maybe later. If I can finish organizing the living room, I could do Zumba in there, so I need to keep plugging along.

I also saw the doctor about the skin on my hands peeling, and apparently I have a really bad case of eczema. She prescribed a steroid cream, but I'm worried about Zara having contact with the cream at night, so I need to wash my cotton garden gloves so that I can wear them to bed.

A friend from high school has a home in foreclosure, and she asked for help finding boxes. Yesterday I made a score when someone on Freecycle was giving away moving boxes, so I grabbed them for her. I also have some boxes to give her.

I think that the cooler weather is making my outdoor plants think that it's fall; I'm seeing some yellow leaves. I need to start planning to bring in the perennial herbs to grow under a grow light, but July seems a little early to bring plants in. My lettuce is growing like crazy and is almost ready to harvest--cool beans.
