My mom is having health problems. The chemo is suppressing her white cell count, and it's wiping her out. And they've discovered that she has bad arthritis in her neck. Think good thoughts for her, will you? To say I'm worried is an understatement. I wish that I lived closer.

Among other things, it's up in the air when she'll feel well enough to come down here, and I don't know how exactly I'll be able to go up there if I'm making Harlee's food from scratch. So we're playing everything by ear. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans...."

That sucks. I didn't realize she's taking chemo. Here's hoping she's back on her feet soon.

She has a blood abnormality that can be a precursor to leukemia, but isn't always. The doctor recommended chemo to keep the abnormality from advancing. And she's having problems with side effects.

Chemo is the worst. I absolutely HATED it. The side effects were horrible. Every time I started to get over the effects, they'd give me another treatment. Big hugs to your mom for having to endure that

I love how that Yiddish saying has become attributed to Lennon. A lot of quotes go that way. hee hee

You know I know a bit about chemo, although every patient's body chemistry is different. It surely does make one exhausted to varying degrees. I hope she's able to rest and sleep and someone is taking care of her needs-- cooking, etc. I was mostly alone (and also younger) and I coped, but there were times I just slept and didn't take good care of myself because I was too exhausted. Just feeding the cats was hard enough.

You're in my thoughts. I hope your mom does well overall.

I've been encouraging her to hire someone to help, but she won't. She's exhausted though. At least she has the sense not to try to drive here for Memorial Day weekend. I told her if she really feels like coming, to take the train. She hasn't been eating much, which is worrisome.
