There was a New York Times article about improving your (physical) balance. It said that tai chi and yoga can help. I tested my balance, and I'm good on two legs, even with my eyes closed. Balancing on one leg is a problem. (My wobbly knees, I'm sure, aren't helping.)

There's a tai chi class that starts Tuesday morning in Bloomington. I'm trying to decide whether to take it or not. One issue is the money. Another issue is whether I'd get up to Bloomington every Tuesday morning by 9:30 AM. On the other hand, I'm sure that it would help and also be a way to meet new people. The next class after this one is in the dead of winter, and I'm less than thrilled about driving up to Bloomington then.

There also is a yoga class in Lincoln, but I could start that at any time.

It's hot in here. This is the middle of October!

I highly recommend Tai Chi. The big problem is that there are so many different variations on the form that after you take one class that teaches it one way, it may be hard to find another one that teaches the same form. Otherwise, it's like starting over. Which isn't all bad.

I took a tai chi class several years ago, but don't remember any of it. Probably just as well :)

After thinking about it, now is probably not the time to commit to the Tai Chi class. I have enough on my plate. I might try the yoga class because it's in Lincoln and a short drive away. I'm assuming that they'll offer the Tai Chi class in the Spring as well.
