I didn't get the additional blog posts written, but I doubt that I will lose Internet access today. I'll write them when I get up.

Time to crash....

How much money are you making from this endeavour? do you have a large clientele?

Not really. I'm trying to change my business to focus on women over 40 and build up my business. I see some positive steps in that direction, but it'll take time. Plus I'm learning how to blog and market a blog.

There's very few who make adequate income to justify selling beauty products. If you're trying to make money, my recommendation is to get a part time job elsewhere. You could make $300-400 per month working one day a week, and perhaps a few evenings. This is speaking from about 30 years of business banking experience.

The thing is that I'm living in a small, somewhat economically depressed town of 15,000, and there aren't a lot of part-time jobs available. I could probably find something in Bloomington or Springfield (around 30 miles away), but then I'd have to deduct the cost of gas. We cut the hours for one of the part-timers at the library who lives in Springfield, and he said that he was more-or-less breaking even.

There are some jobs online for which I want to apply, and I need to get my act together to do so.

The thing is though, I'm looking at the makeup and blogging as a way to educate myself about online marketing. I'll need to work part-time when I retire from librarianship, and that would be a great way to do so. So would programming, which I need to work on as well.

Personally I'd pick something with a more likely success. Cut the $$ leakage, and get something that brings in cash immediately. I've read journals of numerous people on LJ who eventually give up on the beauty business. There's too many people in it, and the profit margins are poor. From what you've written, you need cash, and this business isn't making money.
