I woke up at 5:30 AM, which is way too early to get up on a weekend, but okay. I’ll go back to sleep after breakfast. I discovered that I didn’t feed the girls last night. Zara was right. I suck as a cat mom.

It’s wet this morning. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do some mowing today.

Went back to sleep and woke up at 10 AM. That’s better. Zara is being extra snuggly.

I had been working on several different places in the house, but settled on working on my bedroom now. I’d like to get one room done. Well, I am also working on the bathroom/laundry room because I have clothes piled up there and I’m putting them into the new dresser. One question is where did the rug for the room go? I don’t remember seeing it in storage. I’ll specifically look for it when I go up to get Mom’s car though. I also want to get a sunburst mirror for over the bed.

Zara has decided that I have to feed her whenever I’m in the kitchen. Uh, Zara, it doesn’t work that way.

Project Putting Clothes Away is working. I had a pair of clean black jeans, and I wanted a black t-shirt to go with it. So I went to my t-shirt file—I have organizers in the drawer that are kind of like an accordion file, and I put them in color order—and pulled out my black #lahainastrong t-shirt with the banyan tree.

I put a load of sheets in the washer. I debated washing the duvet cover because it’s such a royal pain in the ass to get it around the comforter, but finally decided to throw it in.

I’m wondering where to store sheets. I had hoped to have a drawer in the new dresser for them, but they might get bumped out by clothes. I’ll put them in there for now. I’m wondering if I should get rid of the set of flannel sheets that I have. I doubt that I’ll use them, so out they should go.

I made a rule that if I sit at the kitchen table, I have to work on the backlog of mail that piled up on the table. I found my new Target card and activated it. In the envelope, I found a coupon for $50 off a purchase over $50. That will help when I get the Apple Watch. Oh crud, it says “excludes Apple products”. Okay, I’ll get bookcases for the upstairs.

The sun seems to be coming out. Maybe it’ll dry the grass.

I saved ONE black t-shirt and chucked the rest straight into a donation bag along with some shorts that I used to sleep in before I upgraded to actual summer pajamas. I hung up exercise clothes in the bathroom to make them easy to grab.

The sheets are dry. I took a shower. Now I wanted to wash towels and also throw my Kizik shoes in there with them, but I had to look around to find my super-comfortable Skechers.

Well, hmm. Someone on a local plant group said that plants were 50% off at a grocery store in Champaign, and it looks like they have a parlor palm, which I’d like. So I guess that I’ll throw myself together and go out.

I went to the grocery store and became the proud owner of a parlor palm at 50% off. I’ve wanted one for a while. On the way back, I decided to have a “cheat meal” and stopped at a gyros place that I had passed. The counter person was slightly confused; the ambience of the place is nonexistent, but the food is good. They also have hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches. The bathroom was gross.

Got the plant home and watered it because it was bone dry. Moved the “home altar” table to where I want to put a cabinet for my gardening stuff. It’ll do for now, and the palm and money tree will have light from the entire window.

I was trying to put clean sheets on the bed. Zara was crouched in a corner of the bed, refusing to move so that I could get the fitted sheet on the bed and was hissing at me. She finally decided that I might feed them and left for the kitchen. Everything is an adventure with cats.

Someone on my plant group was giving away spider plants, which I’d like for the kitchen, so I drove by but didn’t see them. I’ll have to buy some. I found a set of two spider plants at Walmart for around $12, which isn’t bad. They’re tiny but will grow.

Took a nap. Shut my alarm off and slept for three more hours. Fed the cats. I’m feeling hungry, so I’ll have a little yogurt. It’s way too late to study Italian, so I’ll go back to bed.

I started putting my clothes away in the new dresser. I started with my shorts.

The yoga class for fall is up on the Urbana Park District site. I need to enroll in it.

I’m giving away an extra wallet on the local Buy Nothing site. It’s great for decluttering.

I want to get an over-the-toilet rack for the guest bathroom. There currently is a bookcase there on which I put toilet paper and such, but I want to bring it upstairs to use for my home office books.

It just occurred to me to use a rotating organizer that I bought a long time ago for mail. I could put different types of letters in different slots and scissors and pens and stamps in the small slots. I'll do that.

I received the dongle to use my earbuds (from Roma!) with my iPhone, so now I can finally listen to audiobooks on the treadmill. I just bought some "self-help" books to which to listen. Yay.

Yay. The real estate guy sent me a picture of the dumpster gone and the car parked in the driveway at my mom's house. Now I’m thinking that I should drive it for a while after my mom’s house sells and earn interest on the money. It looks like this.

Hmm. I've been looking for something to plant along the short driveway to the garage-to-be, and soft touch holly looks like it would fit the bill. It's cute! I wouldn't plant it until after the garage is built though (which depends on my mom's house selling).

I think that I want to get gutter guards after Mom’s house sells.

I’m getting slightly more extroverted and more patient. They might be related. Our yoga teacher never showed, and I was chatting with the other person in the class, telling her that I had a hard time finding my yoga stuff because of the junk in my car from my mom’s house. She seemed upset, and, to be fair, I don’t know how long a drive that she has to get there. For me, it’s trivial. I said, “Well, the flowers are pretty,” and kind of shrugged my shoulders.

Mind you, I’ll never be a major extrovert. I’m too introverted for that.

Emptied the stuff from Michigan out of the car. I was holding the picture of San Francisco that I gave Mom high above a doorway to see if it would fit there, and it slipped and fell. I need to reframe it. Oh well. I’m resting and cooling off for a few minutes with Zara on my lap. Then I’ll get the garbage out.

Today is garbage day. I decided to clean out my underwear drawer and threw out old ugly underwear and bras because life is too short to wear ugly underwear, right? And I found this plaque. It’s a Tennessee Williams quote, and it’s going over my bed. Hmm, it’s a little hard to read with the glare. It says, “The violets in the mountains have broken the rocks”. I love it.

Now I’m resting after taking out the garbage. Then I need to work a little and then study Italian.

I signed up with an app called Fottur that gives you hiking recommendations and directions based on your location and fitness level. I’ve lost all the advantages of all the walking that I did in Italia. It should help. It listed trails that I didn’t know about in Champaign-Urbana.

I got the email saying that yoga is canceled this week after the time for the class was over!

Studied Italian. My Italian suffered from the time away for it. I need to get back to it.

Now it's bedtime.

I’m doing what I usually do when I want something cheap and am looking at drawer dividers on eBay. Much more reasonable.

Speaking of reasonable, someone is selling a gray dresser that is missing a knob for $50. I might get that. I’ll have to see if it will fit in my car.

I had problems falling asleep last night. It didn't help that The Guardian posted a story about someone who ran a guy over for putting a Trump sign in his yard. This country is losing all sense of proportion. I said on Facebook that that scared me more than anything that Trump can do.

Italian was very hard but very good. She keeps me thinking about how to say things in Italian. We spent a lot of time with me thinking of questions to ask with question words. And I used some of the vocabulary that I learned from my flash cards!

I've been very sleepy today, but I had a nice nap at lunch.

Work has been crazy busy. I'm trying to do the next thing and let people wait for answers from me because I'm one person. My colleagues are better at it than I am. I get nervous.

Here comes a major thunderstorm. I went looking for a flashlight, but I'm out of D batteries. I found a small flashlight that I keep in my purse. I ordered D batteries and a small lantern to keep upstairs. I don't want to be upstairs without a light to see going down the steep stairs.

My doctor is leaving the practice. I need to call them back to get set up with someone else.

Okay, I feel better spending some time away from work. But I’ll still take a nap.

Oh! Someone has a sign in their home office that says “Room of Requirement”! I love that! It especially applies to my upstairs room because it’s a little of everything! I’ll have to look on Etsy for a sign.

Took a nap and overslept slightly. I'm not feeling great, so I canceled going to the Girl Gone gathering tomorrow night. I need to get some things organized at work for a meeting tomorrow. Then I'll go to bed.
