A town about 15 minutes from here, Elkhart, is having a town-wide garage sale. But it ends early, plus I think that I have enough Lincoln garage sales to go to. And I've printed off maps to all of them. I refuse to get up early to go to the sales. I might set an alarm to get me up after eight hours of sleep though. Okay, there's a place that's selling planters that's only open until noon, so maybe I'll get up early to go there.

My grandma would be proud of me. I garage saled until I dropped. I got some planters, a hand vac, a car vac, a shredder, a book, a few DVDs, a couple of CDs, two shirts, a folding omelet pan, a George Foreman grill, a three-hole punch, and some plastic totes. I also got a Coach purse in good condition to resell. I think that I'm forgetting something, but I feel too lazy to check. One place was closed when I got there; I'll have to see if they're open tomorrow. I stopped for lunch part-way through. I was starting to get a headache at the end. There's a heat index over 100F. I want to peel off my clothes and soak in a cool shower, but I'll probably just take a nap.

The Google Maps GPS did a great job in routing me around. I never use it, but perhaps I should.

Whoops, I forgot to go to Ace Hardware. I don't feel like going now.

Zara is being cuddly. Z, isn't it too hot to snuggle?

Had a long nap. Woke up at 8:15 PM and scrambled to feed myself and the girls before my call to Mom.

Mom is doing well. A friend of hers said that Mom's never looked better and that "cancer [her multiple myeloma] becomes her". My aunt, on the other hand, is not doing well. A blood test for cancer is high, so they're going to do a PET scan. Also her kidney function is weak. She also tried to drive and had a lot of difficulty. My aunt said that if she died, we'd have a hell of a garage sale. I said that it's kind of depressing that everyone's life ends in a garage sale, although I suppose that you could look at it as sharing of resources. Mom was impressed by my garage sale haul.

I'm tired, so I'm going to crash. I need to check whether the garbage sale that was closed is open in the morning. Yeah, it said Sunday 8 - noon, so I'll get up an hour earlier and stop by.

Adapting

The girls slept with me last night. That was nice and cozy. They seem to be bouncing back from the move.

Woke up at 8 AM, went back to sleep, and woke up at 9:30 after my alarm. I'm hoping that if I'm efficient, I can get another load of stuff from the old place.

Fed myself and the girls. They've been eating pretty well. Zara has been doing the neighborhood watch in the kitchen window.

I need milk and grits. Maybe I should get the shower curtain and rod for the other bathroom while I'm there, although I won't put it up until Saturday.

My boss said "Okay" about my taking the rest of next week off. That will be great.

Went by the old place and grabbed a load of stuff. Unloaded part of it. I couldn't find Mimi anywhere (and the place isn't that big), but finally found her in the little "house" in the cat tree. I gather that she's still stressed.  Zara didn't like me bringing stuff in, but she rolled and wiggled for me before I left.

Zara was climbing on me when I was eating dinner, so she's back to normal. I brought more stuff in from the car, and also was able to run to Dollar Tree to get a shower curtain liner and shower curtain rings.

Heartland won't let me enroll in the first programming class in the fall because I don't have the prerequisites that were waived the last time that I was enrolled. It's kind of a mess. I fired off e-mails. I'll also need to talk to my boss because the classes will be on Monday nights.

The IRS says that my refund was approved and will be sent to my bank tomorrow. It would have been nice to have it earlier, but, oh well, it's still awesome to have.

Went to the old place and pretreated some spots on the carpet. Went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things. I found the perfect shower curtain for Mom's bathroom. It's a fabric shower curtain with elephants on it. Mom loves elephants. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but it makes me smile.

My oven is digital. I decided that I don't like it. Then I went, "Oh Lord, I'm turning into my grandmother who said that she had done all the adapting that she's going to do!"

Fed the hordes. I'm making a frozen pizza. Popped it in, and then realized that I didn't know where my hot pads were. Rooted around in boxes until I found them. Aaand...My smoke alarm is going off.
