Got up around 8:30. Fed the girls and myself. Read the top stories on the Washington Post and New York Times apps. Got some boxes that seem to be planters.

For some reason, I was thinking about a time when an outdoor cat appeared in the window of my condo in California. Random was hissing, but Harlee was calling the outdoor cat. “Come on in, the food is fine!” I miss Harlee.

Amazon recommended Tim Conway’s book, so now I’m reading that. I should see if Carol Burnett has a book. She has two, which I’ll get.

Had a nice nap.

Mom got a check for $248. I’m wondering if I could deposit it. I need to call the bank and see.

I ordered three large moving boxes to pack up my clothes. I wonder if I could tackle packing the bins in the dining room while I watch the countdown to New Year's Day. (I have a zillion small boxes.) Or I could repot orchids while I watch. I don't have any newspaper, but I could use a bin.

Mimi wants me to come snuggle.

It occurred to me that I should get DVDs of Carol Burnett, the Smothers Brothers, Laugh In, and Saturday Night Live. Carol Burnett is $179. Eeep. The Smothers Brothers are $99 a season. This is an expensive interest that I have. I could use the laughs though. Saturday Night Live, at least, is available on Prime Video. Speaking of which, I forgot to watch it last night. Oh! I realized that I should check eBay! I got a complete set of Laugh In and bid on Carol Burnett and Smothers Brothers Season 3 for less than Amazon! I'll keep adding to the comedy collection later. I also got The Daily Show (The Book).

Had a snack. Picked my BistroMD meals.

Hmm. It just occurred to me that I would like a wildflower garden near the front steps of the new house. I'll have to look for seeds and figure out where the garden should be.

I got involved in looking at Great Courses stuff on eBay. I wishlisted a bunch, and some sellers offered a discount. I got How to Understand Great Art because of my trip to Italy next year. We'll be hitting the museums! I also bid on Great Artists of the Italian Renaissance. Yes, I know that Great Courses has a streaming service, but I think that I'll resubscribe after I retire and will have tons of time to watch or listen to them. I also got a set of courses on the English language and writing.

I did repot orchids, but I forgot to use a bin and got orchid bark on the floor. I'll need to get the vacuum out. I have the sink full of repotted orchids--I'll have to finish another day--so I got stuff together to pack. And then the cable went out. I'm wondering if I should just give up and go to sleep. I've got a "system refresh" started.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but Happy New Year! May 2024 be better than 2023!

I dreamed about writing a sci-fi story. I was writing it during the dream. It was in a society that restricted information, and it had something to do with systems of two equations in algebra. Unfortunately, it's fading.

Woke up at 9 AM, went back to sleep, and woke up at 11 AM.

Ugh. Tomorrow morning is supposed to have a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Good thing that I'm not planning to go out.

[profile] lenine2, what was the Web site on which you were taking piano lessons? I think that it was you? I went to start taking Italian lessons again, and they had some teachers. I'm also going to look on italki.

Had a nice nap. Threw myself together and went shopping. Bought ingredients for Italian Wonderpot and chili, and I already had ingredients for the cod. I brought extra soda inside with the thought that I might be socked in tomorrow.

Checked to see that I had a mini-bottle of Moscato because of there every was a year that deserved to be toasted on its way, it was 2020.

Worked on a year in review for 2020. Well, with entries every day, it's taking a while. I'll have to finish it tomorrow.

I'm wondering if I'll make it to midnight, but it's only a half-hour left.

I think that everyone on CNN is drunk :)

Okay, I made it. Happy New Year! Time to finish my wine and crash.
