Overslept a little, but had time for my shower. Got a fecal sample for Bella, who is easy, but nothing from Oliver yet. Lily snuck upstairs, and Mimi freaked out, so I put Lily outside the gate.

The cleaner for Friday or Saturday didn't work out, so I'm trying another service for Monday.

Emailed the trust about my mom's safety deposit box and tax forms. I wish that they'd do stuff when I asked them the first time.

Overslept my nap. Sheesh, I'm tired.

Took Bella and Oliver to the other vet for their checkup before boarding. Bella seemed to like the place better; she had to check out every person who was there. Bella peed again. They manually took a fecal sample from Oliver, which must have been fun. The vet thought that Bella's eyes were red (I noticed that) because of allergies. And he cleaned some gunk out of Oliver's ears. They're going to check the fecal samples before finalizing the boarding. Oh, Bella looked like she was going to give the vet a kiss, and he said, "I have a boyfriend!" LOL.

My plan of record is to feed the hordes, bring in a recycling bin, take a short nap, and do the recycling.

I just contacted a pet waste cleanup person to clean up the yard. Yay, they'll do it, probably on Friday. Now I just need a house cleaner, and I’ll be in good shape.

Got us all fed. Nap time. Slept until 6 AM. I’m feeling dizzy.

I'm going to New York City next year! I got a discount hotel offer on Facebook for four nights at a good hotel. They made me call and tried to upsell me, of course, but I stuck to the original offer. I just need to book the train and flight as well as the hotel. Amtrak runs on Christmas, so I might leave on Christmas Eve.

Got up early. Go me. Cats: We want food, etc.

Forgot to mention that no one picked up the recycling. Suckage.

I’m eyeing a smart TV for the bedroom (on Facebook Marketplace). Though it's nice to have the bedroom a peaceful place. Need to think about that.

Out of the shower. I like my new eye cream. It seems to do a good job hydrating.

Did dishes and got the garbage out. It’s snowing. Hmm, I was going to return library books tonight, but maybe not with the snow. It’s a good day to stay home.

The house cleaner/organizer is here. She's working on the kitchen right now. She's great, by the way. I explained everything that was going on, including the guy coming to look at the garbage disposal, and she's working around it. She did a fantastic job organizing my kitchen! And she got a lot of my clothes put away!

At work, we "queue" up tickets in different areas. The guy who's "on call" to do that needed to be out for an appointment this morning, but I logged on early, so it all worked out!

Green Chef had a 50% off plus free salad deal, so I ordered it.

I'm trying to decide whether to get a parlor palm through easyplant. My other parlor palm dried up quickly. The easyplant comes with a self-watering planter, though I could get a cheaper plant and a self-watering planter. Yeah, I should do that.

I looked at the adoption application for a dog, and they prefer a fenced-in yard of at least four feet, and my fence is 42 inches. Bother, but I knew that it was short. They also want three personal references.

The garbage disposal guy came here and it took him about two minutes to unclog the disposal. He recommended that I get some cleaning tablets for it, so I ordered some from Lowe's for delivery (plus washer cleaner and dishwasher cleaner).

Sigh. The arthritic toe is bugging me. And I'm really tired. Just one more half-hour because I logged on early and took only 20 minutes for lunch.

The cleaner finished and the place looks great! I’m about ready to be alone though. Just ate. I need to feed the cats and take a nap. Mimi is not happy.

I made an appointment to see the fish tank tomorrow. I also contacted the person with the small TV, but haven’t heard back yet.

Napped. Zara kept me company. The cats are really tired. They didn’t get their naps today.

Huh. PetSmart is having sales on their aquariums. Their 20-gallon one is cheaper than the one that I’m looking at tomorrow, but it doesn’t include a stand.

I contacted Home Depot about a fence, and they want a document about the house that I don’t have.

Put the towels in the dryer and started a load of clothes. Watered some of the new plants.

Amazon is saying that my aquarium book should still arrive today. Um, it’s 11 PM.

Ordered some pet-friendly sidewalk salt because winter.

I forgot to mention that I’m trying putting some water in the cats’ wet food as [personal profile] susandennis suggested, and they’re licking the bowls clean! Good because I have two elderly cats.

Well, I kept on hitting snooze. And my cleaner said this morning that she needed to come at 8 today, so we agreed that she would start at 8 on Friday. I want to call the appliance repair people to look at my garbage disposal unit. I'm also thinking of cleaning the refrigerator before Friday.

I'm thinking about my internal clock. When I get a thing to do at work, my internal clock says to hurry, and I need to slow down. I'm not sure what I think will happen if I go slower.

The appliance person is coming out Friday afternoon to look at my garbage disposal. Yay.

I think that the box that I just got is the new-to-me vacuum cleaner. I’ll need to try it out on the kitchen floor. No, it's two doughnut-shaped cat caves that I bought the cats. I need to buy them more toys, but given that they have no concept of Christmas, it doesn't matter when.

Hmm. Someone is selling a nice wall clock with a pendulum. I might get it for the library. The only thing is that I'll have to wind it. Though actually, would the chimes bug me and any fish that I get? Actually, I found one without a pendulum and chimes on eBay that I like. It has roman numerals and is see though. There's also a similar one on Amazon.

Yay. Major accomplishment. I found and made an appointment with a psychiatrist. I have to go to Danville (app. 30 minutes away) for the first appointment, but then I should be able to see her (?) in Urbana.

Now I need to make a dental appointment. Done! The earliest that they could get me in is in February (but that's a good sign).

I think that I'm too wiped out to go to Dial-A-Carol. I checked, and there are a bunch of other people signed up though. I need to get the recycling and garbage out and go to bed early.

Hmm, I need to mail my dad and his wife's Christmas card, so I think that I'll get up early and run to the post office before work. It'll probably still be late, but I tried.

Got the recycling out for pickup tomorrow. I also need to get garbage out, but I missed the pickup, so I’ll do that tomorrow.

I've been looking at Jacuzzi tubs for the warm bathroom, although that is low on my priority list, but it probably would help my back and shoulders. (Something has to happen to the tub because it's the ugliest tub ever. It's orange with bleached out parts of it. And it's shallow.) The one that I would like costs around $2500 plus installation. I'd also need a basement sink to wash litter boxes in because right now, I use the tub.

I'm seriously thinking of going to bed before 8 PM.

I’m looking at LGBTQ organizations to which to donate because the next four years are going to be hell.

Does anyone have a favorite discount or price-tracking Web site or extension? I have PayPal Honey, Capital One Shopping and CamelCamelCamel. And Rakuten for cash back. And eBay and Mercari to buy used things.

Eeep. 15 days until Christmas? Good thing that I don't have presents to buy, although I was going to donate some items to a local children's home. Need to look into it fast. The presents are due by the 13th, so I can't buy anything from Amazon, only Walmart. I'll go shopping at Walmart on Thursday and drop the gifts off at lunchtime on Friday. I should try Meijer too. Duh. I can have the items delivered to me (ordered)! That'll save a trip!

I have a boatload of things to do today. I need to make up some time at work. I need to practice piano and have my lesson. I need to get the garbage and recycling out and clean up the kitchen so that I can get someone in to look at the garbage disposal. And I have Italian tomorrow morning, so I should look over my notes.

And I want to text the house cleaner/organizer about some sessions. Done. She’ll come clean a week from tomorrow and we’re discussing the organizing. She’ll start the organizing after cleaning and will finish on Friday.

Had my piano lesson. It went well. I really like my teacher and I learn a lot from her.

Got the garbage out and a lot of the recycling, but I’ll need to finish the recycling tomorrow and clean the kitchen. Now I need to sit, so now I’ll work (done--it's funny how adept I've gotten at working with Mimi on my lap!)

Somewhere along the line, I need to find "something festive" to wear when we go caroling. Though caroling is a misnomer; we're doing some of the same songs as we did at the concert. I think that I have a sparkly top somewhere. If not, I have the purple dresses.

Now I need to do dishes and get to bed to get up early for Italian. Though I need to figure out what to talk about tomorrow (done).

Booked my hotel in Southfield.

Zara isn’t eating and didn’t eat last night. I’m wondering if I should cancel the trip and take her to the vet. I’ll see if they have an appointment. I have an appointment on Monday and will take her to the emergency vet at the university this weekend if necessary. (The uni has one of the most advanced emergency vets anywhere.) So, I'm staying in town and keeping an eye on her. I'm going to lose the money for my hotel, but it is what it is.

The house cleaner is here cleaning. She also wanted to take boxes out to recycling for me. I'm lucky to have her for a cleaner.

I ordered a portable charger for my phone, a space heater for upstairs, and a book on the Macro Diet.

Zara did cuddle with me on the bed, so she isn't feeling too bad. The housecleaner made my bed (!) and Zara is crashed out on it.

Hmm. I should get Zara some baby food to see if she'll eat it. And tuna. I submitted an express Walmart order with chicken baby food, only to find that that they were out of chicken baby food. Sigh. I'll have to go to the local grocery store.

The tree outside my upstairs window is bright yellow and glowing in the late afternoon sun. Very pretty.

Okay. I found a tour of Old San Juan that seems to have limited walking. I should email them about it to make sure.

Zara ate a tiny bit of chicken baby food but didn’t touch the white meat from the rotisserie chicken that I bought. I’m going to take her to the emergency vet tomorrow. She probably needs fluids.

Hum. Someone is selling an instapot for 1/2 off. Should I get it? No, the particular brand is no longer being sold.

Hmm. The emergency vet at the uni has some bad reviews and they have high prices. I wonder if I should take Zara to Bloomington.

Mimi is picking at her food too. I don't know what's going on. I'll call the vet to bring her in on Monday also.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I'm looking at swimsuits for my cruise. I should order relatively soon to be sure to have it for my trip. I'll definitely have two beach days plus pool time on the ship, and possibly some beach time in San Juan. I think that tankinis are the way to go. I'm thinking this one and this one. Or possibly this one. I definitely want the purple one. I just have to decide on the second one. I also need a "wet bag" in case I swim in San Juan and then need to pack the swimsuit for the cruise.

I found out what is the best swimming beach in San Juan and want to book the Hilton Caribe, which is right near the beach, and it also has a pool. I'll have to look into transport to the cruise dock (found transportation).

I discovered that most lawn weed-killers kill clover, which I included in my lawn seed. Bother. I hope that the clover crowds the other stuff out. I found some instructions on how to kill weeds without killing clover. This guy has a blog all about lawn care, including what to do when.

I overslept this morning. We had a meeting with a job candidate at 10. When I logged on at 9, I went "Eeep" because we'd need to be on camera, so I jumped hastily into the shower. (Yes, I made up the time.) The candidate was very good. We'll have to see how the one in the afternoon is. She was very good too. I don't envy the search committee having to make a decision.

The house cleaner is here. I forgot to mention the Italian stickers to her, and she removed two of them until she realized what they were. That's okay. She's doing an excellent job and she's super nice. She finished and did a great job. And she's not open for reoccurring appointments, damn it. She said that it all depended on her schedule, and we exchanged phone numbers.

The other night, I saw a listing for a cat who loves everyone, and "species doesn't matter". If she's still available, I'll check her out once the library room is done and I get stuff out of the living room. There's another one who is similar at the same shelter, which is convenient.

I intended to go to the DMV tonight, but apparently then close at 5 tonight, not 5:30. I'll have to get up early and go tomorrow.

I'm trying to figure out what to do after work. I guess that I should unload the car. I need to do laundry and pack. And I want to clean the upstairs. That's probably the least amount of stuff that I've had to do the night before a trip. Most of the cleaning has been done.

I'm tired, so I'm going to go to bed early and finish up in the morning. I need to get up early to go to the DMV anyway.

The BBC has a story about buying old houses in Puglia, and in it, a guy was speaking Italian. It reminded me how much I like listening to Italian. I understood part of it.

Got up early. Threw myself together and fed the cats. Mimi, apparently, is sleeping in.

Well, crud. I couldn’t find my purse anywhere. I finally remembered that I brought it into the music room, but by that point, it was too late to go to the DMV. I’ll go tomorrow, unless I go this afternoon.

Zara is eating Mimi’s food.

I priced used MacBooks because my piano teacher recommended one, but they’re too expensive for me. Hmm, I might wind up needing both my digital piano and an acoustic piano because I think that the digital piano has MIDI capabilities. (That is, you can download what you play onto a computer.)

Turned the sprinkler on on the lawn again. Sunday has a fall fertilizer that I might get.

I've got a house cleaner! She's unfazed by the boxes (and thinks that the place will be "so neat" when I get done organizing it) and she likes the cats! I just need to get cash for her and the pet sitter tonight. (She just met with me today. She's cleaning tomorrow.) She also said that she was available to help me organize. I might ask for her help with my clothes.

I might have to get some grass seed because I don’t see any seed although they said that they overseeded. Sunday has one for patchy lawns, which I have. (And a third to a half of the lawn is weeds, so I need to figure out what to do about that.)

I feel a little like I’m in battle: Adrie vs. The House. I hope that I’ll be victorious. Okay, I ordered grass seed. I ordered a brand that has clover in it to be more hardy.

I tried the AI for Italian in Makes You Fluent, and it would talk over me. I deleted my account. I tried LanguaTalk, and it was much better. Speaking is HARD though! But it's what I need to do. Did my grammar (verbs) work.

Practiced piano and singing. I'm thinking that I'll take the music with me and practice at rest stops and such using a faux piano on my phone. It's not perfect, but I need to spend more time on it.

And I've run out of steam and need to get up early to go to the DMV.

I emailed in sick and went back to bed. I set my alarm because I need to get the kitchen together for the house cleaner.

I put the cat dishes on to soak and looked up to see two pairs of eyes staring at me. I got the kitchen tidied up and still have time for a short nap before my shower.

I need a good place to put tax stuff. I got two items through snail mail, one of which I have in front of me, but I’m not sure what I did with the other one. I doubt that I’ll work on taxes before Spring Break.

The vet said that he won’t give Zara a prescription for the new food until he sees her again. Sigh. I wrote back that I’m up in Michigan with the cats. I’m getting tired of how complicated everything is. I wrote the Michigan vet, but I'm not hopeful because they didn't run a blood test on her. I guess that I'll have to wait until I can get them to the vet in Urbana.

I screwed something up at work. I’m not sure how at this point, but a project that I was working on screwed something else up. I suppose worst case, I could retire, but I doubt that they’ll fire me. But work might not be pleasant.

My house cleaner is running late. And while I’ve been waiting, the painter texted me to ask when I’m coming down to Urbana. See: tired of complicated. Arrgh. It's after 3 and the cleaner still isn't here. I really want to lie down.

I found a feed store in Savoy (just south of Champaign, IL) that carries bird feeders, bird baths, etc. I'll have to go over there. Hmm, I can get a bird feeder pole cheaper on Amazon. They have some pretty hanging feeders too. And I like this birdbath.

The cleaner is finally here without her helpers, so it'll take a while. Oh well.

I worked some on my program for homework. But now the cleaner is done, so I can take a nap! I couldn't sleep with the light on, so I think that I'll go to sleep very early and sleep myself out. I have a boatload of things to get done tomorrow.

Zara wants food again. She of the bottomless stomach. How she stays so thin, I don't know.

Progress!

Ack. The handyman is doing the estimate for rebuilding the back stairs at my mom's house. There are two drains(?) above the one step, and they would be covered with stairs. So we need to figure out what the heck they are. But they want to do three steps, not four. And the earliest that they could start is April. Shit. They really seem to know what they're doing though.

The house cleaner is here and is working. I told her that I'll be at my mom's house and I'm not sure when I'll be home to start regular cleaning, and she said that was okay and she'll squeeze me in at that time. People are being so nice. She and her son did a good job. They didn't clean in my home office because I was working in there, and it looks like a tornado hit it. I hope that I have time to tidy it up before I leave for Michigan.

Oh crap. I talked to Mom, and she didn't grab the date book in which she had the dates written down, so we talked about them. She's upset that there's a week and a half when no one will be there. I said that I was hoping that she would be in rehab then. Then she said that this was too complicated and she needed to go. I'm really wondering about her mind. Dad thinks that good food and sleep will help her mind, but I don't know.

Note to self: call the vet tomorrow to tell them that I'll drop the cats off on Wednesday of next week.

Exchanged emails with my programming professor saying that I might want to take a leave of absence, but I haven't decided yet. She said that my situation with my mom is a tough one, and there are "no bad decisions". I need to find out when my go/no go date is.

Lay down for a short nap but couldn't sleep. Finished my (late) program. Studied for my math test tomorrow. And now to sleep, quickly.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I ordered a better postage scale to come on Wednesday. I'll give the old one to Goodwill.

I don't know when the heck I'll be able to unpack if I keep going to Mom's house.

Tried to nap over lunch but my brain wouldn't stop whirring. Too much going on. I'm going to skip yoga tomorrow to go get keys cut for the house cleaner and pet sitter. I don't know how I can get it done otherwise. Ace Hardware closes at 7 PM.

Mom's friend Kate called. Apparently Mom has gone downhill over the last few days, including that she can't walk, so Mom's friend Ken called the paramedics to send her back to the hospital. The plan is to get her transferred to rehab. That might help with my going next week because of the dental appointment at 2 that day. Less rush. I'll need to work on getting the stairs rebuilt. I asked my mom where her checkbook is, though, and she said that she didn't know. I guess my first order of business is to find things. I said that I could prescreen helpers.

I just want to cry though.

I made progress on my homework, but emailed my teacher saying that it was going to be late. I'm going to sleep now.
