I'm not sure what to think of the new shampoo and conditioner bars. The shampoo didn't have much of a lather, and I wasn't sure what to do with the conditioner bar so I rubbed it on my hair. But my hair has lots of volume. But it's a bit frizzy. But my hair is always a bit frizzy in this humid area. I kind of want to try Everist shampoo though.

I really covet a tankini for frolicking on the beach, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. I found a new one on eBay for cheap (less than half of what one ordinarily would cost), so I got it. It makes me think of Hawaii.

Ack! I'm looking for sandals, but am having no luck finding some with a closed toe in my size. I did find one pair that would work, but they're $100! Okay, I found a pair of "hiking sandals". Now all I need is the beach! I'm not booking the Miami trip yet because I want to see how Mom does.

The outdoor plants look good. The dill is ready for harvest, so I need to get some salmon and make salmon with dill sauce.

I'm looking at a motorized treadmill on Purchasing Power. It folds flat, and I could put it under my futon in the TV room. I really need to get more walking in, and the weather is beastly.

My phone reminded me to study Italian, and I did. Go me.

I made Palak Paneer. Not enough spinach; next time I'll use frozen spinach. Otherwise, it's really delicious. It might be my favorite yet. It's not too spicy. All the Indian meals that I'd made so far have been heavy on protein though. (I see why keto folks are into Indian food.) I need to make some vegetable curry.

Now I need to clean up. That's the down side of cooking for one; no one to clean up the mess that you made :)

I added practicing meditation to my habit tracker. We'll see how "canned" guided meditation goes.

Woke up around 6:30 AM. Got going close to 7:30.

More excessive heat warnings today, and I have to go to the dentist.

Zara was blocking Mimi's path, so she went under my chair to get around Zara. Mimi's off for a snooze in the TV room, now that she's had her breakfast. And Zara went off to snooze in the bedroom. (They sleep at opposite ends of the house.) And I'm off to get ready for work. It's not fair :)

I've been attending free guided meditation sessions offered by the Smithsonian Institution. I find that I relax more listening to a guided meditation than by meditating on my own. Good to know. I need to look for a guided meditation on Insight Timer on my days off of the Smithsonian one.

Mom called. Her car is still being fixed. She's getting a ride to chemo tomorrow, but if it runs late, she'll need me to order an Uber for her. And she'll need me to order an Uber for her on Friday to go get the car. And she also wanted to know if the cats were okay in the heat before the a/c was fixed. (She figured that I would be okay. You can see how I rate!)

The dentist appointment went okay. I didn't tell them that I was moving because I'm not sure when I'm moving. There was some sort of kerfuffle when I was leaving. It looked like a neighbor was being evicted? Their furniture is in their driveway. They just moved in a little while ago though. It looks like someone is still there, so it looks like someone who lived there moved out. Don't know why the police were involved.

The paneer order that I canceled arrived, so I gather that they didn't cancel it. I guess that I'm going to make homemade Palak Paneer. I need to see what I need from the grocery store. But I might make a frozen pizza first, just for a change of pace. I made the list, but I think that I want to go on Friday because I'm buying fresh ingredients, and want to get them close to the time that I use them.

I got the cilantro plant from eBay yesterday. I planted it tonight and gave it a good drink. Nice, healthy plant.

I'm obsessively tracking the package with my new swimsuit in it because I want to go swimming on Friday. But I could sleep in on Friday and go on Saturday. Go, postal workers, go! I just realized that I didn't have chlorine-removal shampoo. Just ordered some from Amazon, and it will get here on Saturday. So that settles that.

I checked cruises on the Purchasing Power site, and you have to have a minimum of two passengers. Oh well.

I looked for the credit card, doing some cleanup. It's not in my purse; I cleaned it out. It's not on the table; I cleaned it off. What the bleepity bleep did I do with it? I'll keep looking over the weekend, and, if I can't find it, I guess I'll tell Capital One that it's lost.

I went looking for a whole wheat sandwich bread recipe, inspired by [personal profile] bill_schubert. I found one by Budget Bytes that I like. I have a loaf left, though, so I'll wait to make it.

Ack! It's gotten late. I need to wend my way towards sleep because I can't nap at lunchtime because my mom might call.

My credit card is missing. I used it today (Saturday) online, so it has to be here somewhere, but I don't know where.

The Butter Chicken was pretty good. Maybe a little too spicy. I need to get more ice cream because I like to eat ice cream after spicy food. I made way too much rice, but it turned out perfectly in the rice cooker. Maybe I could make some stir-fry to use up the rice.

Italian didn't go very well. I kept on forgetting things. All the verb tenses are mushing up in my head, and I need to do some serious studying. However, my teacher is very patient. He also studied Eastern Philosophy in India and loves Indian food :)

Zara was asking for a snack while I was eating lunch. I was just about to take a nap when I remembered that she was hungry. I put the food in her dish but no Zara. I was walking around calling her but no Zara. I finally found her in the cat tree in the bedroom, looking quizzical with her head sticking out of the little "house".

Took a nap. Woke up boiling. I decided to go get my box fan because of the upcoming heat and email the complex management about the air conditioning in case they'd consider it an emergency, given the upcoming heat.

Downed a bottle of Cirkul water. Ran to the storage place and retrieved my fan. I also grabbed a box of office supplies that I can probably give away. Went to Aldi. When I was there, I spontaneously decided that I wanted to make a Mango Lassi, which is a kind of Indian smoothie with mango and yogurt. They didn't have frozen mango, so I just bought yogurt and various types of ice cream. I also bought a chickpea curry to try. Went to Walmart, and they had frozen mango. Also cardamon for the Mango Lassi. Bought frozen yogurt and ice cream cones. I'm at home now and sweat is dripping down me.

Heated up some Butter Chicken, and it was even better than yesterday. The strawberry-cheesecake ice cream cones were also very good.

I need to get the garbage out (done) and then work on the kitchen. I'm wondering if I should go to bed early and get up early, when it will be cooler. I haven't put shorts on yet though, which might help. It does a little, but I'm feeling like I don't want to move. The girls are not looking happy with the heat, but they're coping.

I packaged up an eBay sale that I need to mail tomorrow. I think that I'm going to head to a nice cool shower.

I couldn't fall asleep until 6:30 AM last night. I think that I forgot to take my meds. And it's hot in here.

I've got my Indian cookbooks and the rice cooker! Chicken Tikka Masala looks complicated. It uses a bunch of spices that I've never heard of. Palak Paneer looks easy if I can find Paneer cheese.

Oh dear. Zara and Mimi had a squabble over the open bedroom window. They're not going to be happy when I have to close the windows due to a thunderstorm. I hope that the complex gets a new maintenance guy soon so that we can get the a/c fixed.

I lay down after work, but couldn't fall asleep. There's no point in lying there when I have stuff to do. Brought in my drawers and boxes to work on. Told Zara that I'd have to close the windows during the storm, but she's not going to budge until it starts.

The storms never came, so I cranked open the windows. It is so humid in here. I'm looking forward to my shower tonight.

I've been working on my file drawers, and threw out another bag of papers. I should have been keeping count, but I haven't. But I'm really motivated to cut down the stuff that I need to move.

However, my online account says that I have a lease until December, and I thought that I was month-to-month. I need to find out what's going on. I signed only the lease at the beginning.

My brain is whirring, which isn't good, but I think that I should take my nighttime meds and head towards bed, and catch up on my sleep.

I found a Butter Chicken slow cooker recipe that I want to try. I just ordered some Garam Masala spices from Amazon. It should get here on Monday, so I can make Butter Chicken next week. And Walmart has Basmati Rice.

Got up at 9 AM. Got some stuff done; emptied a box that had a few books in it and did dishes. I still have some time, so I'm going to pick up more stuff on the floor and work on dumping files. I got the other file drawer cleaned out. Go me. I can pick up two more drawers. Now I'm thinking of keeping both filing cabinets. I think that I'll have enough personal stuff for one, and I'd use the other for work. (They were both stuffed with my files to begin with, so I have been making progress.) I also have a folder with stuff with my Social Security number on it to shred.

Italian went well. Apparently it's very hot where my teacher is right now. We had some Internet flakiness though.

I opened the bedroom window a bit last night. Zara loves it. I'd like to close it because I have my a/c on, but I don't think that she'll let me do it (done when I left).

Went to the other college in town and wandered all over the place, looking for the book drop to return my library books. I finally found the place. Then I went to the storage place. I didn't have time to go through boxes of books, but I grabbed two more file drawers. And I snagged a box labeled, "Computer software". I suspect that its contents can go in the trash. Oh, and I grabbed my grill. I went to Aldi and Walmart, and got ingredients for the flounder and the Butter Chicken. I looked for cilantro and oregano plants, but Walmart didn't have any. I should try Ace Hardware.

Put away the groceries. Got the garbage out. Opened the windows to cool this place down. I'm boiling.

Worked on a file drawer. I found something spooky. I asked something called the Silicon Valley Tarot if I would get a job. (Presumably after my last tech writing job.) The answer: 'Even if your efforts seem for years to be producing nothing, one day a light in exact proportion to them will switch on." That's EXACTLY what happened. I was out of work for years and worked on my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science, and got my first library job, and never looked back. And now I have my dream job. Weird.

Woke up at 9:30 AM. Started laundry and fed the girls.

I want to watch Heartstopper, which is a sweet queer teen love story on Netflix. It sure beats shock jocks making nasty comments on the radio, which was what we had when I was a teen. It's a much better world.

Had a nice nap with Zara. She snuggled up to me for a few minutes when I woke up. Awww.

It turned out that a new rice cooker with Amazon Prime shipping is the same price as a used one with shipping on Mercari, so I bought a new one on Amazon. It also steams vegetables while you cook rice. And I got the Indian cookbooks. Tasty food awaits!

I'm thinking of not going to Springfield tomorrow because of my IBS flare-up. (I'm wondering if it's misdiagnosed Crohn's because I get sore spots when I have a flare-up?) So I'll stay home today and run errands tomorrow.

I got my Miami book. Yay. And mower guy is here. Got library books ready for return tomorrow. Started tackling the kitchen. I ordered my new swimsuit so that I can swim at the local pool this summer. Got a bag of papers ready to go out in the garbage.

Mimi was making a big production about her dry food dish being empty. I got up to find that it was half-full. I filled it anyway, rolling my eyes. Apparently, fresh food is better.

Showered and shaved my legs. Threw on a t-shirt and shorts. I'm feeling clean and relaxed. Worked on the kitchen some more.

I found a mother load of recipes that I need to put in a notebook. I think that I'll work on them while I watch TV or a movie. Cleared off the chest freezer enough to get into it. I have flounder and pollock, but no cod. And a gazillion frozen chicken breasts, so I need to make a lot of Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken once I get the sauces. I'll make a grocery list for the cod. I think that I'll make Garlic-Parmesan Flounder instead because I think that I have all the ingredients. (I need to doublecheck that I have garlic.) I'll put the flounder into the fridge to defrost.

Oh crud, it's gotten late. I need to eat before my call with Mom.

Mom is still not doing well. She's dizzy and food is going right through her. She's walking a little better though.

I have stuff to do, but can't stop yawning, so maybe I should just go to bed and get up early.
