The new Keto shake doesn't mix very well, but it least it didn't make me feel sick like the Slim-Fast one. Who knows what the Slim-Fast one had in it. I hate to throw it out though because it was expensive. I wonder if I should complain on Twitter about it? Maybe I could get a coupon to use on Keto snacks?

I've been less than thrilled with the Fresh Meal Plan, but I've been continuing with it as the path of least resistance. I did like Freshly but it was more carbs, and they keep offering the same meals. I could try Factor, but they're higher carb than Freshly. One thing that I like about Factor (and Freshly) is that you can get only 4 meals a week though. Time to look at my Keto cookbooks to see what I can meal prep. Their idea of "low carb" varies widely though.

Zara actually came to see what I was eating tonight even though there's a carrier next to my chair. Tomorrow's vet day. I'm hoping to surprise Zara and pop her in the carrier. Mimi will hear Zara kick up a fuss and run and hide under something, and I'll have to get her out. The vet is offering curbside drop-off only, so I'm going to freeze in my car waiting.

I need to go outside and shovel off my stairs, brush off the car, and remove junk from the back seat (done). I suppose that it isn't getting warmer waiting. I'll probably do the stairs and come in and warm up before doing the car. No, I did the whole thing, but I'm warming up before getting the mail.

I got some "Keto Chow" (a drink) in the mail. They suggest putting some cream in it, so I made a grocery list with cream on it. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer than Saturday or Sunday, so I should go tomorrow night. They also suggest mixing diet root beer with cream? I thought that you're not supposed to drink diet soda?

Mom was encouraging me to get a remote start for the car. I found a place on Springfield that does installation. But I think that I should wait until after I move. Maybe I'll rent a place with a garage, who knows.

Cleared off the table a bit. I'm trying to put flea meds on Mimi, but she is suspicious of me. I need another pair of hands. Success.

I ordered a BlendJet, recommended by [personal profile] one_raido, because I want to make smoothies. There's one low carb one with strawberries and peanut butter powder, but sheesh. Peanut butter powder and protein powder are expensive. It would last a long time though.

I finally, finally remembered to put my clothes in the dryer. Sometimes it's the little things. They smell mildewy, but I hope that the dryer will help.

I listened to the Randy Rainbow parody set to "Evergreen," and I've been wandering around singing "Evergreen". Boggled my mind that I remember any of the lyrics. I was a Barbra Streisand fan as a kid, but that was more years ago than I care to think about. I can just see me as an old lady in a nursing home singing "Evergreen," and annoying the other residents :)

I have to admit that I bought some turnovers last night. But! They tasted too sweet and kind of gross, so I won't be doing that again.

I think that Zara and Mimi had some sort of dust-up, and Zara got her licks in. Mimi came over to me last night for snuggles, and Zara growled and carried on, and Mimi went away.

I think that I'm going to take a nap after breakfast and brave the snow later. Walgreens isn't that far away.

Why are random guys sending me friend requests on Facebook? Go. Away. I want to meet real live people in Champaign, which is why I'm dieting. (Well, and vanity's sake.)

Crud. I forgot to get cat food last night. I also want to pick up some almond milk for smoothies and coffee, so I'll go to Walmart tomorrow.

I lost almost another pound despite cheating with turnovers. Cool beans.

I'm inwardly grumbling because it's cold out, and I need to blow-dry my hair after my shower. Really, Adrienne? First world problems. (As it turned out, I didn't dry my hair because I was running late. And my hair didn't turn into icicles.)

Zara is annoyed because she's standing on my arm, and I moved it to pour water. Cat world problems.

Success. Back with my meds. And Walgreens had passion fruit LaCroix water, so I thought that I'd try it, and oh, is it good. LaCroix for the win! Now I'm looking for cheap LaCroix water on eBay :)

Hmm. I should work on homework. But I really want to take a nap. Who am I fooling. I'm going to take a nap. But I have to remember that my goal is to get a (free!) programming degree. It's less important now that I've gotten my new job, but still, layoffs happen, and I'm the newest person. So I need to do homework tonight. Couldn't fall asleep.

Drat. I bought blueberries to mix with yogurt, only to find out that they're high-carb. Well, I'm in a learning process.

Talked to Mom for two hours. (!) Most of it was about food, the state of the world, and my aunt. My mom sounds good. She has sent my Christmas presents now, and she wants me to send hers, and we'll open presents together over the phone. I need to wrap and package her present, but it's a necklace, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Plus I want to loan her my book about The Four Tendencies in the hope that she can understand my aunt better.

Hmm. I want to go to sleep but homework. At the very least, I should study Italian before going to bed.

I found a Keto meal service that actually is low carb: https://www.freshmealplan.com Need to consider it. I ordered some meals from it.

It's snowing, but there isn't a lot of accumulation thus far. It's supposed to snow, then rain, then snow again. A good day to stay inside.

Bought another Keto cookbook. I keep worrying about getting bored with food.

Had my Italian class. Only three people were there this time. I like that he makes us talk, and it is conversationally oriented, although talking in class is nervewracking. One student knows a lot of Italian (I don't know why she's in the beginners class), and she rattles it off, which makes me feel dumb. I guess that I could reframe it as "this is what you'll be able to do in a while".

Had a bite of lunch, and now, a nap. Zara is really enamored of the bed because she didn't come into the kitchen to see what I was eating for lunch. I've got a bed monster! Bed hog!

Got the mail from yesterday and in it was a tax form that I was waiting for. Put out the garbage for pickup.

Got hit with a pang of missing Harlee, maybe because her picture is in here. Love my girl.

Got my desktop computer working again. Apparently the monitor cable was loose. Good deal. Now I don't have to use my work computer when I'm scanning stuff.

Finished my homework for my Java class. Math awaits me....

Realized that I forgot to fed the ravening hordes because Zara didn't remind me by hanging out near her dish. Yeah, like it's her fault :)

Lay down for a nap and slept through until morning except for a short time up at 1 AM.

Not much to say about Monday. Picked up my groceries, so now I have low carb stuff in my refrigerator. Did homework. Got my Keto Slow Cooker book. A lot of recipes are "throw everything into the crockpot," which is my kind of cooking. I can't stop yawning, so I'm going to go to bed with the cookbook and flag recipes.

Got up on time for my Italian class. I'm trying to explain to Zara that it's a little disconcerting to have a cat on your shoulders while you're eating, but she doesn't care. Mimi is a little put out that I'm not taking a nap right now. (Soon, Mimi.)

I looked on Walmart's app for a garlic press, and they appear to have them in the store. Good deal. There are Rosemary Meatballs with Yogurt Sauce in my future. (It calls for crushed garlic.)

I had my Italian class. The teacher was a little late and a little disorganized, but he does emphasize conversation. And I can't beat the price (4 Euros per one hour lesson). There are five people in the class, so we all have time to practice.

Started soaking a litter box and lay down for a nap. Mimi is now mollified.

Had a nice nap. My Italian teacher has sent the materials from the class so that I can study them.

Found some more low-carb recipes on an app. This person has more similar tastes to me, except for loving bacon.

Shopped until I dropped, including three reams of printer paper and 12 legal pads. That should hold me for a little while. I also scoped out low-carb possibilities at Aldi and Walmart. Aldi had two low-carb loaves of bread (and they really were low carb), so I snatched them. They also have wraps. They have a cheaper meat, fish, and seafood selection, which I knew. Walmart wins for the variety of seafood, including frozen stuff. They have small shrimp, which I like. Walmart had riced cauliflower. It also had celery and spinach dip, which probably will be a go-to snack. And it had almond flour, coconut flour, even cashew flour. Between the two stores, I should be set.

When I got home, the cats were like, "Mom, aren't you forgetting something IMPORTANT?" I fed them after I got the groceries in. I want to sit for a moment, put the groceries away, put the garbage out, and make something to eat. I found some Hormel chicken dinners at Walmart that sound good. I also got a deep-dish pizza at Aldi :) I'm going to carb my way out in style.

DietDoctor.com has some great Keto ideas. They had a list of "what to make when you don't feel like cooking," and smoked salmon and avocado sounds yummy.

Oh crud. Winter weather advisory that includes ice.

I'm thinking of rewards for losing weight. When I lose 25 pounds, I'll get a massage? When I lose 50 pounds, I'll get my hair professionally colored. 90 pounds, and I go to Hawaii.

I'm feeling physically exhausted, so now I'll do homework.

Better

Woke up at 8 AM feeling better so far. I had a cat (Zara) on my shoulders. Then she started circling me, which is Zara body language for "feed me," so I did.

Got to remember to pay for the Italian class. (Done.) And get up on time for it tomorrow.

I'm looking at purses on Mercari, but not seeing anything that I like. I like big purses with lots of pockets.

Nap time. I was talking to Mimi, telling her that she'd be warmer if she burrowed under the blankets, but no. Then it was belly rub time. She's only one of two cats that I've had who liked belly rubs. The other was Chaos, who passed away early on my time on Live Journal. He loooooved people and made friends wherever he went. That was close to 20 years ago? Wow. I think that the only person still on my friends list from then (who's still posting) is [personal profile] bandicoot.

Oh, I forgot to mention that yesterday, I finally got in touch with the people who administered my Flexible Spending Account, and they said that my former employer doesn't have a contract for a COBRA. I contacted my former employer, and they said that I should still have access to funds that are in there. I need to log onto the account and see if it's still active. I also moved my vet appointment forward two weeks.

Hmm. Sweet potatoes and black beans are high carb, so there goes my plans for lunches when I low carb. Maybe I'll have salads with ranch dressing. I need to get wraps for scrambled egg and cheese breakfasts. Or I could just allow time to make it. I tend to like to microwave stuff in the AM. I got a keto diet plan on the Internet. I hope that I like the recipes. I downloaded my keto cookbooks. I printed off some lunch recipes that I liked, but wow, pricey. Salmon, steak, shrimp....I suppose that if you're eating mostly protein, food would be more expensive. But there also was a "low budget" book.

Printed off Java articles to read on the exercise bike. When I retire, I'll plant a forest in reparation.

Discovered that I forgot that I was soaking a litter box in the tub. Went to take a shower and oops. I learned that Aldi is open until 8 PM, so I'm going to lie down for a little while before taking my shower.

Got up and was hungry. I decided that I'm not going to the store tonight. I'll make oatmeal with water instead of milk tomorrow morning. Had some leftover gnocchi and some ice cream. Looked to see if Walmart had low-carb ice cream (the app says yes), low-carb bread (yes), riced cauliflower (yes). Good deal.

Talked to Mom. The growth in her bladder was cancer, but the doctor thought that she got all of it. She just wants to monitor Mom. Mom was venting about politics a lot.

The only thing is that I lose my momentum talking to Mom. Now I'm thinking of just eating some soup and going to bed. I need to get up early and throw myself together for my Italian class anyway.

Did a little work on the kitchen. I got my food journal and Decluttering at the Speed of Life.

Oh goody, we're getting snow. Not a lot though.

I was looking at Thrive Market, and they have Shirataki Spinach Fettuccine and non-dairy Alfredo sauce. That would be a way to get my pasta fix while dieting.
