Mom took off this morning. I got up to see her off, and then ate breakfast and fed the hordes. Then I took a nap in my own bed, which was nice.

Mom and I were laughing at Mimi's antics the other day. When I take a can of cat food out of the cupboard, Mimi lets out the most piteous mews that make it sound like she's been starving forever and is on her last legs. Of course, the minute before, she was fine.

I'm kind of glad that I won't be sleeping on the futon in Harlee's room anymore. It's not the most comfortable place to sleep, but it proves that I can sleep anywhere. The night before last, though, I was just dropping off to sleep when I heard, "MEOW! MEOW! MEOW!" Apparently Harlee was confused because the light was off in the room, which normally means that I was going to bed, and the light was on in the bathroom because Mimi likes to sleep in the hall, and I didn't want Mom to trip over her, so I think that Harlee thought that I was in the bathroom. Eventually she settled down.

I'm planning to stay home and do things around here. Someone wants to buy my wet-dry vac, but he's going to pick it up tomorrow at my work.

Had a nice dinner at Arby's. Mom called a friend back, and now she's getting herself together so that she can leave early tomorrow. I'm posting some stuff online to sell.

Mom started drowsing off after breakfast, so she's lying down. I hope that she'll be well rested enough for the drive tomorrow, although she's stopping part-way to stay with a friend for a couple of days. I hope that the rest will help.

Mom, buying a bag of SunChips: Maybe I should get an extra bag for you.

Me: Mom, I have a bag of potato chips at home that I haven't eaten.

Mom: Well, we can always come back.

My aunt also sent a raspberry tart here with my mom.

Today, we made it over to the Bubble Tea place to try bubble tea. We tried Passion Fruit and Banana. The Passion Fruit was great. The tapioca "bubbles" though, I could take or leave. They're kind of rubbery with no taste.

We then went thrifting at Goodwill. When we went home, I did a load of laundry.

We ate dinner at Chi, a local Chinese place that I had heard good things about, but never had eaten there. The food was excellent.

We've been talking about various things, and then Mom went to bed early. She said that she's been tired since the last trip that she took to Chicago (about three weeks ago). I hope that catching up on her sleep will help.

I saw an e-mail harvesting ad by Tim Ferris on Facebook. I did supply my e-mail address, and one of the freebies was a list of recommended books by well known people. I've been ordering some of them from the public library.

I'm trying to decide whether to go to sleep or to work on my programming class. I'm feeling kind of hungry though, so I should eat something. My malaise has morphed into a chest cold, so I'm trying to sleep it off.

Mom got here around 5:45 PM. We had dinner and chatted for a while. Both of us are feeling tired, so we want to get a good night's sleep.

I'm sleeping with Harlee, so we'll see if I get a good night's sleep. Harlee will probably think that I'm in there for her to climb on. Plus, Harlee has stinky poops. Ah well. It's tough being a mom :)

Apparently Mom got a late start, but she's on her way. I've already pulled myself together, and just ate lunch, so I guess that I'll clean until she gets here. I might skip clearing the bed, though, because Mimi is sleeping on it. I'm too soft-hearted....

I'm feeling better today than yesterday. I think that the tension of my boss announcing that she was leaving plus the presentation wiped me out. Another professor is resigning though (the head of Jazz Studies), which concerns me.

I got the bathroom cleaned, except for the floor because the towels that I use as rags to wipe up the floor are locked in my broken washer, probably molding, so I'll have to throw them out when I manage to get them out of there. I'll have to see if Goodwill has some towels that I can use as rags. I did some cleaning in Harlee's room. I also have finished a load of laundry, with another one in the dryer.

I'll need to get up early to clear off my bed (I have books and magazines piled on the side that I don't use), and change the sheets. My neighbors go to sleep early, so I need to move downstairs to clean.

I'm preheating the oven to make my pizza.

I really want to go to Ferne Clyffe State Park in Southern Illinois to hike. There's a very pretty swimming hole with a waterfall that I want to check out. (I'll embed the image in LJ, and come back here, and add the link because I don't like how Dreamwidth handles images.)

The drive is 3.5 hours, so I'd need to drive down in the afternoon, overnight, go hiking, overnight, and drive back up. I'd like to do it this summer though.

My headache has gone away, so that's good. I seem to have jacked up my bad knee though. I seem to do that whenever I travel.

The other day, they had a quote in the news about a woman whose daughter was missing after the bombing in Manchester. It turned out that her daughter was killed. That is so freaking sad. I wish that we lived in a world where there were no terrorist attacks, but we don't. Certainly puts my problems in perspective.
