It just occurred to me that listening to opera would be a good way to work on my Italian. I should look for my CD of La Bohème. Does anyone have other operas in Italian that they recommend?

I got up early to study future tense in Italian. It went better this time. I need to make flash cards for irregular verbs.

Italian went well. I'm getting better at guessing what words might mean, so I'm learning from context. Excellent. Soon I should start reading in Italian. Oh! I have Italian Short Stories for Beginners on the Kindle!

I spread some snow and ice melt on my stairs. The additional snow is giving better traction on the stairs though.

Mimi came to find me, and now we're taking a nap.

Got the garbage out. It's cold out (14F). I know that seems balmy to some of you, but to me it's cold. I need to keep my faucets running tonight.

I'm sitting with Miss Zara on my lap. Apparently she thinks that it's cold and wants body heat.

I looked for a camera bag with a slash-proof strap for Rome (when I go there). Found one.

I watched the Harry Potter reunion show. I thought that it was excellent. It makes me want to watch the movies again. Oh, Zara watched with me! Well, she napped near me.

I'm looking at Freeletics AI personal fitness training, but I need to wait until I got paid to subscribe.

I rescued the soda out of the car so that it doesn't freeze. I have the water dripping in most of my faucets, except for the kitchen one because I need to do dishes first. I guess that I'm ready to hibernate :)

Eufy beeped and started cleaning even though there's no scheduled time. I shut it off and put it back in its corner. I might be able to use it in the TV room if I pick up the cords. This place is not Eufy-proof yet.

Mimi has discovered that the desk chair is very comfortable.

Watched The Marriage of Figaro. The subtitles weren't great, so there was a lot of singing in Italian that I didn't understand. Occasionally an Italian word that I knew popped out at me. I expected to like it more than I did, although Cecilia Bartoli was a great Susanna and Renee Fleming was great as the Countess. The duets between the two of them were beautiful.

I'm up now after sleeping late. Click click and I ordered dry cat food. Love online shopping.

Time to jump back and forth between heat and A/C. It's currently 80 degrees F.

Played a fun game of "Guess where I want to eat, Mommy?" with Zara. The answer is not necessarily where she is.

The Illinois Governor has daily COVID updates, and I usually watch them. It gives an idea how the numbers are heading. We're still home for all of May though.

Had a nice nap and ate. Threw myself together and went to Dollar Tree for soda and some odds and ends. They had a sign saying that they won't serve anyone without a mask, but a guy came in after I left without one and bought something. The line at the drive-in for Dairy Queen has spilled out onto the street. People in my mobile home complex do not seem to be practicing social distancing.

I read an article about how chicken looks done before the temperature rises enough to kill bacteria, so I bought a meat thermometer. I sprung for the more expensive waterproof one.

Talked to Mom. She's doing well and is starting on the garden. My aunt and uncle are not doing well. My uncle drank two brandies on an almost empty stomach, and then couldn't get off of the toilet. My aunt had to call the paramedics. They took him to the hospital. My aunt said that she's had enough, but she doesn't want to put him in long-term care. What a mess.

I was going to put together the treadmill, but I'm yawning and running out of steam. If I go to sleep quickly, I should get a decent night's sleep and still get up early to put it together in the morning.

I looked into Dinnerly (yeah, I'm me-tooing), but they require a minimum of three meals per week. In looking at the meals, I found two per week that interested me. Oh well. No, actually, I've found some more that interest me. Need to think about it. Plus, I just ordered ingredients for some meals on Walmart Grocery. I did order Dinnerly. It's more reasonably priced than Home Chef. And there's a week delay, so I can make the meals that I planned next week.

Crap. A Home Chef meal made it through my skipping orders. I guess that I need to cancel some of my groceries. I just put a "pause" on my account.

Eufy has arrived. Zara checked out the box, but decided that it was too small to be a good perch. She's back on the desk chair box.

Zara is funny. She eats part of her food, goes away and grooms herself, and then comes back and eats the rest of the food. (And then she'll groom herself again.) Wouldn't it be more efficient to eat it all in one shot? Then again , "cats" and "efficient" don't go together. Now she's doing a third go-round with the food.

Zara was off of the desk chair box, so I took out the parts. No assembly instructions. Bah. The manufacturer said that they'll e-mail me the instructions, but I haven't gotten them yet. Got them. I'm going to nap first and then assemble the chair.

Well, this is interesting. Apparently my Italian lesson is scheduled for next week, not today. More time to study....

Had a nice nap. Ate. We had a kitty squabble over the desk chair box, which is now on its side. Both of the girls were in the box, and hissing and growling ensued.

I'm trying to find out why I wasn't able to auto-pay my rent, and the Web site said that "ePay isn't enabled for my property". But I've used it before though. Sent an e-mail to the property manager. Paid some bills while I was at it.

Can't get the side arms of the chair on. I'm taking a break. It turned out that I had the arms on the wrong sides. Finally finished assembling it. I'm going to say on the review of it that it would help to have two people assembling it. I kept on wishing that I had a third arm.

Need to clean up after the assembly, but I need to rest. I also want to assemble the treadmill tonight, but I need a break and a few choice swear words before I begin.

I'm sitting in the desk chair, and oh, is it comfortable. it's almost worth all the hassle assembling it.

I can't face assembling the treadmill tonight. I think that the plan is to feed the girls, eat, and watch The Marriage of Figaro on the Met channel. Oh, and do some aerobic dancing, also on the Roku. I'm pondering how I lived without a Roku.

Had to scramble this morning to make it to my online (synchronous) class on time. It was a good class.

Our governor extended the stay-at-home edict until the end of May. However, "non-essential" businesses can now be open for pickup orders. Some parks and golf courses will be open if people follow social distancing. Fishing is okay for two people or less in a boat. People must wear masks in a store. I finally ordered new masks from Amazon because the ones that I ordered on Walmart's site have been stuck in limbo. The Amazon masks should get here on Saturday.

As to how I feel about this: I don't know? I'm tired of being at home but am also getting used to it. I'll be happier when I get my treadmill (currently scheduled for Monday). As for the exercise bike, I don't think that the order will ever go through, so I need to cancel the order and buy an older FitDesk model. Amazon will probably take a month to ship it. So it's out of the equation for May. Added: Crud. The FitDesk 2.0 for for users 5'3' and over ,and I'm 5'2". The 3.0 version is for users 4'10" and over. FitDesk says that they will have the 3.0 back in stock on April 24th.

I tried to call my mom to tell her about that, but the call hasn't been going through to her. My phone isn't showing a lot of cellular connection bars. Sigh.

Anyway, now it's my weekend. Mimi and Zara started it off with a major cat fight. I only live here. (Mimi is now dozing outside my office room, where I'm typing this entry.)

The Metropolitan Opera is streaming operas. I want to see at least one or two of them. (I'd do more, but most operas are long, though I suppose that they'd cut out the intermissions.) La Traviata is tomorrow. Oh! Tonight's opera is only one hour? I'll do it.

Need to study more Italian....And I want to tackle cleaning the kitchen, although I might start that tomorrow.
