Amazing What We Get Dependent On
Nov. 8th, 2017 11:30 pmI lost my cell phone tonight. I was in a panic, especially because I'm going to Chicago on Friday, and I need my phone (although I grew up in Chicago without a cell phone), and in general was very un-Buddhist-y about it, and wondered if I'd have to buy a new phone tomorrow. I found it on the floor of the driver's side of my car. I had looked in the car, but on the passenger's side where I put my purse. I'm very relieved that I found it.
I'm wondering who took a bunch of Zen books that are missing at the library. That's also very un-Buddhist-y. And "Studies in Jewish law, customs, and folklore"? To be fair, we do have students who have never been to a library, and don't understand how they work. I hope that they at least got something out of them.
Neither Kroger nor WalMart carries fresh bean sprouts. Kroger's has canned sprouts, but ewww. There is another grocery store, IGA, with very high prices, but I bet they don't have it either. This isn't a bean sprout-y area though. The adventures of vegetarianism in a small, rural town.
I read an article by Linda McCartney about how eating low on the food chain has less impact on our resources. I guess that I knew that a lot of resources are required to raise meat animals, but it really clicked now.
I'm packing for Chicago tonight so that I have a day to get anything that I need tomorrow. I need to be on the train at 10:30 AM on Friday. (Yikes!)
