Got up early and got my hair cut. And then I dropped off the dead printer and monitor for recycling after getting a little confused as to where to go. And the recycling didn't cost me anything! And the printer and monitor are out of my kitchen!

Had a nice nap. Started laundry. Went to the storage place and went through four boxes of books and brought two back to get rid of, plus a bookcase to replace the one that crumbled and the basket for my yoga stuff. I'm beat, so I need to sit a while. Maybe I should post some books to sell.

Hmm. I'm poking at airfares to Seattle and Washington DC, and Seattle is cheaper (which makes no sense because it's a longer trip). I've heard some horror stories about Airbnbs, so I need to look at hotels. It's kind of looking like the Extended Stay America for Seattle. Then I could eat breakfast there and maybe some dinners. Hmm, another advantage of Seattle is the time change. I'll have classes on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and they would be over earlier and I'd still have some time to do things.

Filled a bag of garbage from the kitchen. Brought in the basket and a box of books. Just remembered that I need to put clothes in the dryer, but I need to sit for a moment. Went through the box, but there were only a couple of books worth selling. I need to find out if the public library is taking donations for their sale. Put the clothes in the dryer. Emailed the library director at the public library, who is a former colleague of mine, to ask if they are accepting donations. Went to sell some books, only to find that Amazon wants me to verify my charge method, and it'll take a couple of days. Sigh. Maybe I should just sell on eBay.

Not sure what to do now. I'm feeling tired but not sleepy. Make German flashcards, maybe (done)? I'm going to eat some soup and go to bed.

Upset stomach and headache. Bother. I hate to go out sick though.

Hmm. There is a bus from Portland to Tigard, where there is a 55+ community that interests me. I wonder if I could check the place out? Hmm, the bus goes past the 55+ place but doesn't stop there. I wonder if I could take an Uber or cab.

I'm pondering how I could have a Left Coast lifestyle without Left Coast prices. There is a small town between Portland and Salem with a 55+ community, but their HOA fees are high. Maybe I should just stay in Champaign and cope with the summers and winters. There is a place near Ashland that isn't too freaking expensive. Oh, I miss California. There's one place in Seattle that has condos that remain reasonable. The HOA fees are high though. There are some manufactured homes in Eugene that are reasonable, but are manufactured homes okay in earthquake country? Anyway, my first step is to get out there and see if I like it. Now I'm thinking of spending a day or two in Portland just because it's there. And I like Portland.

I'm wondering when I should go see my mom. Maybe right before July 4th? I'm on call after that.

I think that I'm going to lie down for a little while and then go get soda. The hordes are eating. Then I need to write programs.

Got my soda and some munchies. Oh Dollar Tree, I love you. Got some bagels on deep discount.

I don't want to stay up too late because I have a 9:00 meeting plus I need to run to Walmart over lunch to pick up Zara's meds.

If I want to live cheap, there's a place outside of Chicago (Fox Lake) that does all the lawn/snow maintenance and has cheap houses and an Olympic-size pool (outdoors though) and a greenhouse and a vegetable garden. And it's near a lake. And there's a train into Chicago. And the HOA is only $202/month.

Anyway, I need to stop this and program.

I think that I was out last night as soon as I turned out the light. I'm feeling more well-rested today.

While I ate dinner, I discovered that I like green beans a lot better with some melted butter. Whatever gets me to eat veggies works.

The University of Central Florida allows senior citizens to audit classes for free, and it's a huge university, so they probably have some interesting classes. They DO have some interesting classes (a class on the Incas?) Another point for Orlando. The same is true at the University of Washington, but they don't allow you to enroll in Asian language classes. (Bummer.)

Mimi is insisting that she needs to be on my lap while I use the computer. I just tipped her off after several typos.

I need to get up at the crack of dawn for an offsite meeting tomorrow.
