I forgot to get a no-slip mat for Mom's shower. I can order one online and pick it up tonight. Actually, Walmart has them in stock, so I'll just go by tonight and grab one.

Mimi was stalking Zara again while Zara was in the litter box. I chased Mimi away and tried to get Mimi to come into the bedroom with me. Mimi lay down in the kitchen and refused to budge. "Never try to outstubborn a cat. " -- Heinlein. Finally, she realized that I was going to take a nap and joined me.

Had a nice nap.

Folded a load of laundry and put another one in the dryer. I got my toiletries together for the trip. My bottle of conditioner is missing, but I had a commercial bottle of one to grab.

I'm trying to figure out whether I'll be able to take my carry-on suitcase. I'm not staying long. (Nope. Needed the larger one.)

I have the Metra train schedule up on my laptop and am waiting for Mom to call. Talked to Mom. It was kind of a disjointed conversation, but we're squared away for my arrival on Monday.

I think that I'll make scrambled eggs Florentine because I'm feeling too harried to mess with an omelet. I put too much salt in, but otherwise, it was good.

I'm not going out tonight. I'm planning on packing and wrapping presents, etc. I think that I'll wait until tomorrow to dye my hair.

I'm having issues printing stuff off. My computer is insisting that my printer is out of paper even though it isn't, so I rebooted it. Now it's printing. I've got copies of my train ticket. (I can bring it up on my phone, but I like to have a backup.) We'll see if it will print off the Metra (Chicago commuter train) schedule too. It did print it in a teeny-tiny font that I can barely read. I need to pick up a printed schedule there.

Packed my suitcase and messenger bag. Wrapped one present. I'm taking a breather. I finished wrapping presents, and they're in my suitcase.

I'm in good shape. It's way too late to start cleaning, so I'm going to bed.

I stayed up late last night watching a video stream of ice skating. Glad that I watched it though. Still woke up to my alarm. Zara was being snuggly this morning.

Still ouchy. Damn. The ice has melted though. I didn't need to get the salt. Oh well. (I'm keeping it in my car because it isn't the kind that's safe for pets.)

An audiobook that I've been listening to recommends doing things as slowly as possible, and the author said that you will find that you're actually doing things faster. I've been trying to do that when I remember to. I don't know if I was doing things faster, but I was more accurate the first time, which I suppose would make things faster. Interesting.

I got another prescription for Zara to replace the one that's missing. Because I'm paying for it rather than insurance paying for it, they had no problem with me filling it early.

It's hard to believe that I'll be going to Austin in 2.5 weeks. Yikes. But because I'm not presenting there, all I need to do is get my carcass on a plane and to my hotel (and, of course, to the conference center). I'm looking for cheap things to do during the evenings. And cheap places to eat. I was there once before, but I was looking at Austin as a place to live, so I didn't do a lot of touristy stuff. Hmm, I should find my LJ entries from that trip.

I woke up earlier than I intended. Mom was still asleep. I was wondering if I should make breakfast or not because I didn't want to wake Mom up. Well, Harlee decided that Mom had slept long enough, and she jumped on my Mom's chest, meowing. Mom thought that it was funny. (So did I.)

We ate breakfast, and I took a nap with Mimi. I'm waiting for my clothes to finish washing to take a shower. Zara is being manic.

I forgot to mention that the first day at the hotel in Chicago, mom was curling her hair, and I was blow-drying my hair with their hair dryer. The power went out. Mom freaked out because she was going to Mass with my aunt, and we were on a tight schedule. I called down to the front desk, and they fixed it in ten minutes, so we were fine. I never dried my hair after that the whole time that I was there.

The house is clean (or at least, as clean as it's going to get, but it's pretty clean). I wrapped my mom's presents. Everything is packed except for the stuff that I have to grab in the morning, and I have a list of what I need to grab in the morning because I'll be groggy. I'm catching the 9 AM train, so I'll need to get up early. So I'm going to bed, although I might not go to sleep right away.

Chicago, here I come.

I found a cheap place to stay in Chicago that's 20 minutes from the meditation place, so I booked the trip. It'll be the weekend after this coming one.

I fed the girls as soon as I walked in the door, and Harlee has been (mostly) quiet.

I need to get to sleep early because I have a conference call tomorrow morning. And I left the agenda at work. Arrgh.
