Exhaustion rolls in like the fog: first tendrils of it, then large patches that appear and disappear, and then you're socked in. Or wiped out.
It's kind of a problem. I went to sleep at the relatively early (for me) hour of 12:30 AM and slept for 10 hours. I took a nap around 2, planning to sleep until 4. Instead, I slept until almost 6. I managed to gather up the energy to grab a quick bite with a friend and run errands. By the end of the errands, I was wishing that I could lie down in the grocery store or be a little kid who gets carried home. I'm going to sleep in short order after I finish this entry.
Assuming that this state of affairs will be the status quo for a while, I need to find a way to be able to sleep enormous amounts of time. I need to get the place together enough so that someone else could clean it. (The rub is that "getting it together" involves a certain amount of work, but it's low-impact work.) Perhaps also I could hire someone to run errands for me. I was planning anyway to set up a pantry of sorts in the garage (my place is very small) with shelves for canned goods and toiletries, and a small freezer. I could give the person the combo to the garage, and leave a list and money. The person could stock the shelves and freezer in there. All I'd have to do is go down there and grab stuff. The only question is what to do with perishables like milk. Albertson's also is starting a delivery service from the Internet, but I don't know if this area is supported. I wonder if I could hire someone to clean my car. Then all I'd have to do is work (and laundry, but that's no big deal). Speaking of work, when I work from home, maybe I could warn them that I'll need to take a nap during the day, but that I'll make up the time.
By the way, I forgot to mention that I called Friday to get a new therapist/case manager. I have an appointment on Friday at the appalling hour of 8 AM. However, I also have an appointment there at 2 PM with my med doctor. I'll have to stay up there, but I wonder where I can camp out and work between appointments. Possibly I could work in the the public library, but I feel a little funny bringing out the laptop in the library. Or maybe I could get a cheap hotel room for a couple of days: drive up Thursday night, come back to it after my first appointment, and check out after my second appointment.
Addendum: Hmm, about the cats: if running errands wipes me out, what would a somewhat grueling drive down to L.A. and back do? I'd have to take a drug holiday, or at least decrease the dosage.

Date: 2002-03-24 12:56 pm (UTC)I live in the sticks and really need to drive too. My only alternative would be working from home and having stuff delivered. I'm not sure if I want a life in which I never leave the house. On the other hand, most of the drives that I do (except for the drive to the Santa Clara Kaiser) are short hops of 5 - 15 minutes in length.
Hmmm, I really need to give up on the cat deal. It strikes me that I-5 down to L.A. is an excellent place to fall asleep driving, with disastrous consequences. Ouch, giving it up kind of hurts.
