Today, we had an outing to celebrate the different product releases that we've shipped. We went to the The Tech Museum of Innovation. We saw an interesting IMAX film about building the space station. I had to skip a second IMAX movie because the first one made me queasy. (I am, unfortunately, very prone to motion sickness.) We had lunch and then I took off because I've been to the museum before.

And now I'm on vacation through the end of next week. I'm just planning to rest and do some projects around here, but still, it'll be very nice.

Next time, take your dramamine first ;) I hear that Apollo 13 in iMax is absolutely breathtaking. I've never seen iMax. Need to do that.

It's quite an experience. At the IMAX at The Tech, you feel almost like you're sitting inside the picture.

Apparently the movie that I skipped had a sequence in which a small plane was flying between some islands, and everyone said that they "felt" the plane banking. (That's when I would've lost my breakfast.)

I went to a reception at the Tech Museum in July. It was really great!! We didn't go to the IMAX movie, but did wander throughout the entire museum. I had a lot of fun playing with the bobsled run, and really found the rest of the museum quite interesting.

I have read some of your postings regarding introducing the cats to each other. I have three cats, all were feral at one point. The first one I brought into the house was quite ill and had an abscess in her neck, preventing her from eating or drinking - She was 3 weeks old, weighed 3/4 lb, and the vet didn't think she would live (she's 11 now). The second had her eye torn by either a raccoon or rat, we aren't sure which. The vet managed to save her eye, gave her shots and spayed her at the same time. She was (and actually still is) quite wild, even thought she has now been in the house for 5 years. (She was 6 months when I caught her to get the eye taken care of). The third cat is actually the brother of the first. He lived outside until he was 10 years old - He was always more tame, and just lived in the backyard. I found him with an injured paw one day and decided to try bringing him indoors. He is now 13 and hasn't wanted to go out since. I think he secretly wanted to be indoors all his life, but anyway, introducing them was interesting. They all pretty much accepted each other - never had the hissing and spitting, just a few glares now and then.

I hope you don't mind that I have added you to my friends list - I hope you will add me. I am new to Live Journal (as of today and with the kindness of Bandicoot).

Hi Leslie--welcome! I've added you too, though I should warn you that I'm updating and commenting only intermittently.

I'm impressed that you were able to tame three feral cats. My feral cat is the light and joy of my life, but it took a long time getting here.

The jury's still out on whether I can get the two cats who aren't getting along to get along. It's funny how cats can have good or bad chemistry like people; my feral cat gets along well with both of the cats who don't get along.

Actually, the youngest one, Tasha, was and still is the hardest to handle. She is fine around Me or my parents, but with any strangers, she hides under the bed or couch until they leave. It took a long time for her to trust any of us, but I think that is because when I caught her, it was in the cage trap, and she was already injured with a very bad infection in her eye. Then, she was subjected to being poked, stuck with needles, operated on (both her eye and spaying), and then being medicated. Her trust level was at an all time low at that point. She has made great strides, and is a wonderful pet, now.
