I was using the washroom when Random came in. He decided to jump into the bathtub. Unbeknownst to him (and to me), the drain had closed when the tub was still draining, and there was a couple of inches of water in the bottom of the tub. He went "AAAAAAH" and all but levitated out of the tub. He sprayed me with water, but I didn't mind because I was laughing so hard.
The cats are dismayed to find that the V-A-C-U-U-M C-L-E-A-N-E-R followed them from San Jose.
Random is losing patches of fur again. He does this every summer, so I'm not too worried about it. (The vet has run tests on him and didn't come up with anything conclusive.) There were large clumps of long Random fur all over the place before I vacuumed. No vacuum, even the Dyson, picks up all his fur. I'm wondering if a carpet sweeper might do a better job picking up the fur, so I ordered a commercial-grade carpet sweeper on eBay.
I'm trying to force Random and Harlee to get together under supervision. Nima isn't the brightest bulb in the pack, and it didn't occur to her that if a cat is hissing at her, she should back off, so Random learned quickly that she wasn't a threat. Harlee, on the other hand, will go away when Random hisses at her, so we're at a stalemate.
I've been enjoying sharing my bedroom with Harlee. She's learned quickly that when I'm vertical and awake, she can ask for attention, but when I'm asleep she'll leave me alone. The only spot of contention is when I'm praying--in Harlee's eyes, I'm awake and not doing anything. (That reminds me of a time when Random was a small kitten and I was meditating; he crawled onto my leg and fell asleep. I almost died of the cute -;)) So I was trying to pretend that I was asleep when praying, with the predictable result that I really did fall asleep. The cats are well trained to leave me alone when I'm on the computer, so now I'm praying in front of the computer. There's something really wrong with that -;) Hopefully, God isn't a Luddite. Actually, it's kind of nice praying in my darkened home office with the apartment quiet and dark, and Random and Nima asleep. It's all good.
