"But I want to pet the kitty!"
Aug. 3rd, 2008 01:44 amCynthia (my real estate agent) came by to help me move stuff into the garage. She brought one of her sons and her granddaughter. I tried to move some stuff, but Cynthia told me to let them move the stuff, and that her granddaughter wanted to pet the kitties.
I thought "Uh oh." Harlee was hiding under the fireplace, and I didn't think that she'd cooperate with being petted. I thought Nima might cooperate, so I went to Nima's hiding spot. The granddaughter (whose name escapes me--my memory sucks) tried to grab Nima and Nima took off with the granddaughter in hot pursuit. Nima ran into the office, and then turned around and ran back into the living room. I almost had a heart attack because the front door was wide open, but Nima veered right and ran back to her hiding spot.
Cynthia saw her granddaughter chasing Nima and told her not to chase the kitty.
"But I want to pet the kitty!" said the granddaughter.
"Well, she's scared," said Cynthia.
"Why?"
"Because you're a stranger."
"But I want to pet the kitty!"
Etc., etc. the whole time that they were there. I have to hand it to Cynthia; she calmly responded to her granddaughter each time that she said that she wanted to pet the kitty. I probably would have ignored her after a while.
Cynthia's son was impressive. He carried a large box of stuff downstairs by himself.
