Yes, mea culpa. I was doing 70 in the left lane of I-55. But two pickup trucks seemed to come out of nowhere and came up beside me. One was tailgating me in the left lane, but the other one was keeping pace with me in the right lane so that I couldn't cut over. I sped up to 80, but was boxed in, so I kept on driving. (I shut off my audiobook because I didn't know what was going on and wanted to have my wits about me.) Finally, there was a truck ahead, so the guy in the right lane sped up to cut over to the left lane, and I cut over to the right lane. They might have been drag racing. I think that they were going at least 90 when they pulled away. Oddly enough, I felt calm the whole time but very alert. The moral of the story is that I-55 belongs to the idiots on Friday night. (There also was another speed racer who blew past me, probably going at least 90, after I had pulled into the right lane.) But I'm home in one piece, and get Monday and Tuesday off for "Fall Break".

Time to go to sleep, so that I can get up earlish and clean mildew out of my car. Joy....

Today I finally used the wet vac on the car, after a mishap in which I had an extension cord with two prongs and a vacuum with three. I finally found an adapter in my kitchen "junk drawer". Go me :) I got some water out of the carpet, so I think that it'll dry out. I had the windows open a little for a while, which made me a little nervous, but nothing happened to the car. (I'm such an urban person. When I go to pick up mail from the mailbox when I get home, I lock my car. There's something to be said for small towns though.) Oh, and I had to traumatize Harlee by shutting her upstairs while I ran the extension cord out of the front door. She's milking it for all it's worth though. Every time I see her, she tells me to pet her because she's had a rough day. And if I've been upstairs for a while, she comes upstairs to tell me to pet her. That's my girl....

Today was our only day of sunshine for a while. It's supposed to rain tomorrow through Tuesday. You'd think that this was Portland. (I wish it was. I'd love to walk over to Powell's and hang out.)
